Since we're on the topic of visual updates, male Roegadyn would like a word...

I'm a devout mRog enjoyer, as are at least 6 other real non-imaginary people who play this race/gender for reasons beyond walking around Limsa in a speedo and frog head.

However, as much as I enjoy(ed) being the sole brick house in a secret society mostly full of Elezen and Hyuran string beans, there is one thing about male Roegadyn that rubs me the wrong way.

(Featuring: A Lvl. 1 Lancer Midlander named John Robewearer who only exists for the purposes of this thread)

To be specific, a lot of glamours on mRog that involve billowing fabric (specifically ones for DoM jobs--some DoW stuff looks weird with the race's proportions but there's not much to be done) are either very obviously (and abhorrently) scaled up to fit the race, leading to the appearance that his shirt too big for his god damn he, or that the elements have the appearance of being afraid of the mRog's arms and legs, stretching out seemingly twice as far in a nonsensical way.

Now, I've seen a mRog in smallclothes before (context), and while their arms and legs are indeed thicker than the average man's, they aren't so much to the point where they need an extra 50% of room in their clothes to accommodate them. Unfortunately, that's what they tend to get, which makes finding good glamour for mRog annoying at best and brain-melting at worse.

Day in and day out, I scroll the Eorzea Collection looking for inspiration for good glams. I see something I like. I find a link to it to Try On in game. Oops, sorry! You picked the wrong race, so it's the ugliest thing you've ever displayed on your PC screen! Try again, stupid!

PLEASE, Square Enix, fix the robes. I'm tired of having to use the Dalmascan Draped Bottoms when I want a glam that's a little flowy. Just make the model a little smaller, a little closer to the skin. Please. I'm begging you.

I would like to see some special racial tailoring outside of Lalafell.

I try not to think too hard when wearing oversized roe clothes, it is how it is
Male bodies already feel like second class citizens in regards to the costume design in XIV compared to female bodies, male roes even more so
I would love to see clothing that is tailored to male roes, but I have no hope of ever seeing it in the game

I would love to ignore it, and have attempted to do so for years. Unfortunately, 90% of all decent-looking male glams I find (that aren't just hodgepodges of Lvl 1 cosmetic gear you can get on the market board) involve at least 1 piece of gear that looks awful on mRog. Glam is (part of) the true endgame, and I'd love to be able to properly take part in it without having to reroll into a different race.

I have noticed that males pretty often get the shaft when it comes to decent glam, though--maybe it's just a symptom of something else.

I don't understand what is being pointed out on most of the images above.

There's no "extra puff"; you can't see thighs of either character (and I would be concerned if the Roegadyn didn't look bulkier than the Midlander); the sleeves look equally stiff and awkward on both characters. The pants are the only thing I agree looks specifically awkward on the Roegadyn.

I've not done much experimenting with male Roegadyn glamour myself but I did start an alt to try on things at the marketboard and I thought there are some pieces that look good on them because they fill them out in ways that smaller characters don't.

Came here to say the same thing. Trying on all the gearsets on the benchmark all the shoulderpads and sleeves were horrendously oversized. Guess helmets won't be the only thing I won't be wearing in DT....

There's some stuff, yeah, but not nearly enough compared to other races.

The sleeves and similar are annoying, but I can live with them. My main problem with mRog is how any sort of robe or dress like piece of gear awkwardly juts out, creating a foot or two of space between the leg and the fabric. It's super awkward, and in a lot of cases it will lead to clipping with the arms.

I cannot, in good faith, agree that this...

    ...looks good.

Sure, but that one looks awful on everyone.

You can see here that it looks just as weird and angular on both genders of Midlander: https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearset/orison

(The coat is actually pretty cool from more flattering angles, but it's that stiff-as-a-board tunic underneath that kills it.)
