We need a polling system in the game

Before you get your forks out, runescape has this and it works really well.

Basically. The poll booths can be found in all major cities in the game, upon login your notified there's a poll going on and your asked to vote. This vote is typically about adding new content or a new skill or new changes. Accounts are regulated to make sure votes can't be manipulated


Typically for a new skill (job) 3 suggestions are offered with a small amount of detail. The players vote based on that and the official jagex videos with further detail and then the highest vote wins. If 2 votes are close like 60/40. Then the second option is also considered.

This system allows developers to get constructive tangible feedback from the community with numbers. If something isn't liked.. its removed. I think the ffxiv devs should add this system to dawntrial because rn it feels very out of touch with the community

Look, I would LOVE to have a way to give direct feedback, but polls that pick which jobs to add? Absolutely not. That way lies madness.

Just browsing the first page of the forums has shown me that JP disagrees on a lot of things. A huge chunk of them are fine with healers being 1-1-1 bots and they like genderlocked gear. Sure, there are a lot of things we all agree on, but we also disagree on a lot of them. While we already complain that SE only listens to JP, they complain that SE only listens to EN. If there was actual, tangible proof of the poll results and you could actually say "we didn't implement the job JP wanted because EN picked a different one" or vice versa, that would cause a huge mess.

this is flat out untrue lol. we read the same form posts and both of them show players liking and disliking it. you cannot use extrapolated evidence for this kind of data collecting

i really dont think the cultural divide is this deep, i think the idea it is is perpetuated by a %age of the playerbase looking to blame Something when they dont get skills they want

Soon as I saw the title I though of RS.

However I do think it's a good idea for player feedback- I've had a few questionnaires over the years but my friends didn't get one from SE. I think they need to hey back in touch with their player base

I think it’s a good idea… I don’t know that I’d want it to be majority rule votes on things like game features, at least not at first, but more of a way for them to get more feedback from people who are actually in-game, playing the game. They say they use the forums as feedback, but a lot of people playing don’t bother coming here. In-game polls would more accurately reflect the player base, assuming people participate.

Any good poll would also have an “other” option, and a text box with a high enough character limit to actually write what you want to say.

Honestly, they are better off doing these at PLLs/Fanfests etc., than what they would be doing it specifically in-game.

Polling can work the only problem I have is that the information may not be conveyed in the best way e.g., because it needs to go through translation, and then there's the whole situation of people may not necessarily understand the change or the implication of said change.
