I'm curious, how many people still run maps and are they still profitable for time spent running them?

Well just need to go in with a Warrior and solo them, but a lot of people aren't brave enough for that for some reason.

They have long been a very popular endgame content because I would always see map parties everywhere while hunting.

They're still popular, and even at their most current, they aren't very time-consuming. I don't know what you consider profitable, but they can be pretty easy money, regardless.

Everyone in an FC will at some point be asked to do a map event.

Maps are very popular and profitable. My FC used to do a maps night every week or so. Now, we're kinda waiting for DT, but we still do em occasionally. Get a full party and each member brings 2 maps. Guaranteed 500k at the end of it all. And that's not including drops that could earn you more. And some of those drops sell for a lot too.
