    Portrait System [Dev Request]

    I'd first like to say, I absolutely LOVE the portrait system and think it is one of the best customization additions to the game (personally). I have spent countless hours making portraits for all my different jobs and glamours.

    While it's such a minor thing in the grand scale of things, it would be really nice if the Dev team could include an "animation timeline" where I can comb through the animation to find the pose I'd like to use. Even a timestamp option would suffice.

    Right now I have to press the pause button and, like a shot in the dark, hope it lands on the frame that I want to use.

    It's a very finicky system that could be greatly improved with just this one small change.

    (I understand that SE is probably trying to cut down on the """inappropriate""" portraits but I can't see why they can't include an animation timeline slider. If they didn't want us using the animations they wouldn't have included them in the portrait maker, no?)

    First, they have to revert it back to the first Version where changed Gear was just automatically taken over to the current portrait without completely deactivating portraits if you change a Ring and forget to press the 3 buttons to confirm changes.

    Then they have to fix the issue with glowing weapons like relic weapons causing errors with portraits if you glam something else over them.

    Furthermore: barely anyone gets to see the Portraits anyway cause everybody instapulling and they dissapear before they were even loaded in.

    I'm still baffled they seem to think the portrait system is production ready when it simply doesn't work half the time. It's kinda crazy it's gone this long in the state it's in.

    The thing is, it "breaks" according to rules that the devs have set. They want it to break if you change anything about the appearance of your gear.

    The settings are overzealous, but it's still intended overall, which is why they're not rushing to fix it even if we all want them to.

    I can see where you're coming from.

    They would have to reinvent the portrait system from the ground up to implement some of these changes. The gear issue going hand-in-hand with the gear lock for jobs.

    As for the relic weapons issue, I can't say I have personally experienced any glitches with them? I'd appreciate a description or demonstration.

    If I recall correctly, the portraits themselves aren't static images but freeze framed character models, in a similar manner to trying on/dying gear.

    And now that I'm thinking about it...the timestamps scenario would also greatly benefit gposers as it's currently in a similar state.

    Lastly, while I concede that portraits aren't viewable for very long doesn't mean they're not a fun feature to have. It's just a different avenue for people to be able to have fun making little icons and such. I wouldn't really mind much if it was just for me, another feature of gpose, as I derive joy from the creation of these silly little things.

    But I am certainly all for a more robust rework of the portrait system to resolve the constantly breakages and necessary refresh/saving to ensure they work (as it is probably the biggest annoyance out of anything that's been mentioned thus far).
