    Question about the upcoming maintenance

So as I understand it, the upcoming update will be of 50gb.
Currently, my game it's installed in my SSD, but I have no space to install the update there, unless I want to leave that SSD with very little wiggle room, which I don't want.
My question is, once the update launches, will there be a way to change the destination of it? I know I can't split the game exactly, but I was wondering if doing that would, in a way, re-install the whole thing, or if my only option it's uninstalling from the SSD altogether and re-installing with the update.
    Any ideas are welcome.

You will need a certain amount of space available even after the update, so you will probably want to un-install the game prior to maintenance and reinstall it on a different drive.

The best course of action is to first go to the game folder location and right-click it and "copy", then paste it on a different drive or removeable storage device such as a USB drive, this will save you from having to re-download 75GB (size prior to 7.0) again. Once you have copied the game folder (copy the folder containing the folders "boot" and "game") you can un-install the game and then reinstall it on a different drive by only using "ffxivsetup.exe" (you can get this from the lodestone, scroll to bottom of page, click "game download"), don't bother launching the launcher, just use ffxivsetup.exe and once it installs (it's just setting up the game folders) then you can paste the old game folder over the newly installed one, it will ask to replace some files, just click yes to all.

Once it has finished copying the 75GB of files then you can start the game as usual.

You can backup the settings folder if you want to, but it shouldn't be removed as it is located in the C:\username\Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn folder.

And if I grab the whole Square Enix folder and paste it on the drive with more space and start up the launcher from there, would that work to download it in that drive?

To use the launcher, the game must first be installed, not the entire game, just installed from using the "ffxivsetup.exe", basically setup.

If you download the setup program as I mentioned above, you can start it (even with the game already installed) and during installation, when it asks where you want to install it, select the new drive, let it install (takes a moment), then go to your SquareEnix folder and copy it, then paste it over the newly installed one. Once it has finished copying, then you can use the launcher.
You should be able to then login using the newly installed copy on your other drive and test to see if it works with no problems, then logout and uninstall the old copy on your main drive to free up space.
