I wish you luck, Crustyman (lol at that name). FFXIV is good and no offense to anyone that only plays this game, but this game is basically a copy-paste of WoW in the Cataclysm era (2010 version of WoW). It's good, but the only thing that really seperates FFXIV from WoW, in my opinion, is the story. I usually only play this game for a couple months out of the year, coming back for the new expansion or a new patch. No shame in that, there are other games/things you can do. From your post, it sounds like you're just bored of FFXIV. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Honestly, the combat itself is enough of a reason to keep playing. I just love playing, though I guess that's because FPS games are my favorite genre. Also there's a skin I wanted for one of the weapons in the game, and its pretty much luck based, but I don't mind it, it keeps me playing.

Hmm yeah as some others have said, you might try dipping your feet into content that you haven't been exposed to yet that may give you a similar feeling. If you like fps games because they're higher octane, you might like the raid side of the game. Or maybe try out PvP.

Either do more content or quit till you want to play again. People take breaks all the time. You dont need validation from the forums to do it like we are your parents. Put your big boy pants on and decide whats best for you.

Yea, I've just been taking breaks, playing for a day or two, letting my sub expire, then rinse and repeat. I'm just not sure how many more 3 month breaks it'll take to make xiv fun again.

Though I suppose I did need to hear this lol. Definitely gonna take a really long break

most people who hit the same wall as you install mods and go erp 15 hours a day and forget about the game entirely, its a whole ass rabbit hole ... like most people dont even do content they just go to nudey bars and buy the publicly advertised hookers and square enix completely supports this.

Huh, this is an interesting time to decide to give up on FFIXV but go and live your best life IRL I guess.

I've played for over a decade but I kept a running sub since like ShB and I've just PO DT so I'll be here as long as servers are alive. I don't really do hard content so it's just V&C and MSQ along with glam hunting. I used to play every day but the last month I felt burned out so I just log in like 1 hour every other day.

Apathy means burnout 99% of the time, take a 3 month break cold turkey. You will either come back enjoying yourself or never return, ymmv.

If anyone has a solution or just some advice, I'd love to hear it. I know I should just listen to what I truly feel about xiv, but I'm just not sure if I should stick around if dawntrail somehow wows me back into xiv.

I don't think anyone can give you THE advice which makes you stay or stray from the game. That is a decision you alone have to make. But I can see how the lack of social interaction can make playing FFXIV a boring experience over time.
I'm playing for 5 years myself and I got lured into the game by my sister. I really have to say, if it wasn't for her being around I wouldn't have stayed and payed for playing. We also got my best friend into playing with us and a lot of content we did only by the 3 of us.

Like someone already mentioned here, maybe you become hyped again when your 2 buddies start gushing over DT and you decide to go back. I don't think anyone here can give you an unbiased answer to the question whether DT makes it worth to stick around or not. That is something only you can decide once you played it.

Me and my FC mates are currently feeling "burnt out" too. We log in occasionally but our main focus shifted to GW2. R n we definitely prefer that one, despite being an "old" game for several reasons. No monthly sub, expansions with mounts that actually are useful and not only for glam purposes or flying, combat that's much more fast-paced than it is in FF XIV and lots of other stuff. You might not be able to switch jobs "on the fly" but you can have several different builds you can swap at any time, like wanting to play a power build of your job or a condi build or maybe a build that's fit for a WvW zerg. Also meta events with world bosses are a whole different level than in FF XIV. Once you participated in the Dragon's Stand or Tower of Nightmares you laugh at some FF XIV content which is considered "hard".
And then there are tons of achievements to unlock with titles to gain or gear or weapons or account boons or simply glam...

Anyways, it doesn't need to be that one; it can also be some other game (MMO) that doesn't instantly ask for a sub or just a good old offline game if you aren't looking for social interaction.
If you don't feel like playing FF XIV, then don't force yourself. No one expects you to do that and in return you don't need to justify your decision whether to play or not.
