Still it would be a good thing to "nerf" the WoL. Regarding Azem's crystal, my thought on this is it does contain the technique to invoke people, but the amount of aether needed to be done is up to the users. No aether, no invocation. Concerning Hydaelyn's benediction, now she's vanished, I don't think it should remains as it is, it should vanish along time as well. It doesn't mean it gives the WoL his/her strength, but regarding primals, of any sort they are or wherever they come from, it doesn't lessen the fact that anyone can be tempered, even though we have now a mean of healing that affliction. But even with that, we still have Vrtra's scales protecting us from tempering, so even without Hydaelyn's benediction we'd be doing fine. Devs just have to find a new way to make us feel new threats for the WoL and the main cast, that's just my thoughts.

Between Post-6.0 and 7.0 we have Zero, Vrtra, Erenville, and Wuk Lamat. Aside from Y'shtola and Estinien, virtually all of the Scions were shoved to the sidelines and played only supporting roles up to the end of 6.5. Heck, Y'shtola didn't appear once in 6.55 and hasn't even been mentioned in any of the promotional material aside from background appearances. Krile is also getting much needed screentime.

WoL is constantly mentoring people in sidequests. All the way back in Heavensward, WoL mentored Vath Deftarm in establishing his own identity and teaches him what it means to be an adventurer. This continues through tons of other quests like the Moogle tribe quests and crafting quests like the Stormblood Goldsmith quests.

I never understood this obsession with "nerfing" WoL by destroying or otherwise removing Azem's magic from the story. It just means the story goes back to wink wink nudge nudging at the idea of other adventurers miraclously showing up to help against all odds and with barely any basis in logic.

WoL isn't invulnerable or invincible. Yotsuyu nearly killed them by dropping a castle on them. They've been drugged, had their asses kicked by Zenos and Ran'jit, and explicitly would have died at the end of Endwalker if not for a last-second teleport, the emotion-manipulated realm of Ultima Thule, and immediate medical attention from four healers. They explicitly get tired and other people have to tell them to sit down and let them handle some things so they don't kill themselves from exertion. You can even hold WoL at gunpoint.

The main reason why WoL won't die is because they're the player character of an MMO and killing them would mean ending your playtime. The story doesn't need to "nerf" them to threaten them when they're explicitly still endangered by the things around them and feel the need to call in backup instead of duking it out mano-a-mano.

I'm excited for Dawntrail and the current direction of the story. WoL was never going to go back to being a "normal adventurer". They're always going to go find new things to tackle and new places to explore. There is an appeal in a "fresh start", but the world is so interconnected that it'd be weirder if their past accomplishments didn't have some kind of impact on their path going forward. The Launch Trailer has given us a lot to chew on and there's plenty more to do in the next expansion. I'm not in the camp that feels a need to abandon the Scions even if I agree with some of the criticisms that their interactions can get same-y because of how they're almost always on the same page.
