For 8.0 am i hoping for stuff, that i allready hoped for 7.0.

    - give us new companion.
At the end of EW had everyone of the scions his own wishes, goals, job to do (Ysthola, write the damit book).
It feels time, to be separated from them and find a new group to help. The scions could than showing up as guest in later Events for nice fan service. Like it is with the pokemon special manga. Where every region has his own cast and earlier charas are showing up from time to time.

Maybe, the WoL could become the mentor of a new person.

    - story for 7.0 do i hope for a small scale problem and back to the roots (be a normal adventures). This "games of thrones" setting fit this idea allready. I expect it to be some kind of treasure hunt (was it allready stated, what kind of trials this will be?). With the warmonger as the final boss (or person to lead to the boss).
I hope for a story Twist, that the lion girl is betraying us and would be the person whe had to stop. But i dont think, that this will happen.
7.x will probably involving kingdom manangement, similary to SB.
But after that? Hard to say.
Whe have a whole new continent, where whe could have new areas. Or, whe could go to the dragon continent. Where maybe dragon hunters are doing problems (sequel to HW, some evil Dragoons take revenge).

    - maybe nerv the WoL storywise, by destroying Azems crystall. Its a nice item to explain, where the raid people are coming. But it looks like to give the WoL to much power.
Maybe, lets his light crystall be destroyed again (now, that Hydaelin is vanished).
By removing some of his power again, is it easier, to create enemies, who are a challenge and at the same time not to powerfull.

Genuine question, how does it give them 'too much power'?

It gives them the ability to grab seven convenient weirdos for a fight, sure, but... let's all be honest, we've always been able to summon seven weirdos metatextually, and no matter if the Azem crystal is intact, destroyed or eaten, we will continue to have that ability, because we're playing a game where a lot of major fights are trials or raids that require seven weirdos to help us. All the Azem crystal does is mean that the writers are freed up from either having to come up with an overly convenient reason, or opening an inconvenient plothole by not coming up with a reason.

If anything, I don't think the Azem crystal makes us 'more powerful'; I actually think it establishes very staunchly that we're not that powerful. There's a handful of fights where it's not clear if or how we got allies for them, and so people disagree on if we soloed it or not (I think the most egregious one might be Thordan). The Azem crystal makes it brightly and obviously clear that the WoL is not standing alone, that they can only beat these guys with help; there's ambiguity if we soloed Thordan, but there's no question at all that we didn't solo Golbez.

I think that when people ask for this, what they'd be more satisfied with is some sort of stated rules to it; it's evidently a sometimes food, we don't even crack it out when doing smaller team content like dungeons (or larger team content like alliance raids), so there must be logic to why we use it when we do... but what is it?

I guarantee, you'd be much happier with an explanation of that than you would be with 'the Azem crystal is destroyed, but Valigarmanda's still an 8-player trial afterwards and you don't get any explanation for why'.
