Questions about your reception to Dawntrail

Of the pre-launch periods I've seen since I started playing the game in StB, I feel like this one is the first with this many people either uneasy or straight up apathetic to the newest expansion. I haven't seen reactions as polarizing on the short time I've been using the forums, so I got curious.

Hopefully it'll be a good way for Squenix to gather data on both what is keeping the satisfied party here, and what is pushing the unsatisfied party away.

• Will you play DT at launch, and are you looking forward to it? Why or why not?
• Did the media tour sway your decision, and do you think there's any way you'll change your mind before DT actually comes out?
  

1. I started during Heavensward patches.
2. I’ll be playing early access and I am STOKED. The New World is one of the places I wanted to visit most so I was squealing as soon as the first trailer dropped. Solution Nine and the FFIX allusions got me even more stoked!
3. The media tour did nothing to sway my excitement. I play for story content, everything else is secondary to me. I love my main job and I’m glad it’s not getting changes, I’m looking forward to learning VPR and glad to hear it’s somewhat similar to RPR and dead easy, because again, I’m not here to challenge myself. I’m just here to vibe and unravel the mysteries of the New World.

1) Right around Stormblood launch

2) Absolutely will be playing on launch. I am looking forward to a light-hearted adventure this time around for the story and the field zone, but the encounter design improving is under "I'll believe it when I see it" since we've been dealing with it since Shadowbringers (although I feel it was to a lesser extent in ShB). I've grown very apathetic and pessimistic regarding both encounter design and the job design (which also falls under the "I'll believe it when I see it" for 8.0), However, I'm not sure I have enough patience left to wait another 2 and a half years for improvements to job identity and mechanics.

3) Not in the slightest, I've been going in with tempered expectations and it's been working for me thus far. Though, like I said, I'm not sure I can take another 2 and a half years of this current job design. I'll likely frolic to WoW for gameplay for several periods of time in the same way I did with Endwalker.

1) i stepped into the 1.0 world and unfortunately my pc couldnt handle it. i came back for a realm reborn and played on/off throughout expansions. i've been here for every exp launch so far.
2) yes and yes. i'm very excited, especially for the graphical changes. i'm hoping things continue and one day... one day more customization... maybe... anyway. friends, game, stuff. yes. i'll be here.
3) uhhhhh i dont..think i paid attention to it... and no, my mind's not going to change, i want to play it and changes to the gameplay aren't going to make me whine and quit. i relish changes. i think we need multiple changes. i think the combat system is super old school and would love a realm re-reborn just to change SO many things honestly, but that's asking a lot. change is good - change means things can be different.

Why or why not? I enjoy the story. I play with my IRL wife. We have fun playing together. We enjoy role playing our characters, conquering challenges together and spending time together whether in this game or otherwise.

1) Heavenward/stormblood. I started playing right at the end of heavensward just as stormblood was launching. I remember because the servers started dying and I had no idea what was happening. Raubahn savage anyone?

2) yes I'm going to play at launch I'm really looking forward to seeing what direction the story's going to take now. Also picomamcer and viper look fun.

3) nah I mean the media tour was fun but it didn't sway me. I feel like if you've already decided it won't change your mind you know.

Indeed. The healer strike comes to mind. People probably read it and think "Ah, a haven for negativity". But really it's a lot of players who simply want the game to be better. Strikes have a negative association and attract attention, sure. Negative headlines attract attention just the same. But the reactions to those negative statements can be and usually are mixed.

While I understand the sentiment of the purpose of the thread, aa single person goes in and says they like the healing they get jumped on and called an idiot for liking easymode by like 6 other people, that thread is as toxic as it get's unless you're in 100% support of them.

no I wont be playing Dawntrail at launch as I have no character at that level. What can I say I get distracted by other things in game and hare off doing this or that for months at a time instead of MSQ.

So as not to overly spoiler myself for Dawntrail I did not watch any of the media tour. I want it to be totally new as possible when I do get to it.

1. During the second raiding tier of Shadowbringers.

2. I will. I'm looking forward to pure cosmetics. As a female Charr player on GW2 - I've been impatiently waiting for a race that truly fits my aesthetic. I could care less about the story. Since my expectations are so low I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

3. No. Honestly, it solidified that 7.0 will maintain a similar momentum. They seem to be reworking my main - Monk - yet again. It sucks but what can ya do?

1 )1.0 but my computer couldn't handle then game well so I didn't play much till Closed beta of ARR.

2) Yep, Finally I can play a dual wield sword dps in this after waiting for 11+ years for one. Viper looks pretty fun to, so this is the most excited I've been since ARR.

3)Media tour didn't really have any effect on my decision.
