I also have to point out that forums like this will tend to skew toward " I will play," given that only accounts that have been active in the past 14 days are allowed to post.

Yeah, but the biggest doom posters are also here so.
As for an answer, beta of 1.0, and yes I'll be playing. I still enjoy the game, so why wouldn't I?
I started playing during the Early Access of A Realm Reborn.Of the pre-launch periods I've seen since I started playing the game in StB, I feel like this one is the first with this many people either uneasy or straight up apathetic to the newest expansion. I haven't seen reactions as polarizing on the short time I've been using the forums, so I got curious.
Hopefully it'll be a good way for Squenix to gather data on both what is keeping the satisfied party here, and what is pushing the unsatisfied party away.
- When did you start playing?
- Will you play DT at launch, and are you looking forward to it? Why or why not?
- Did the media tour sway your decision, and do you think there's any way you'll change your mind before DT actually comes out?
Yes. I will play Dawntrail at launch, and I am looking forward to it. Sure, there are some battle/gameplay changes I'm disappointed by, too, but overall I'm far more excited than I am disappointed by a few minor gripes.
And no, the media tour didn't really do anything to sway my decision one way or the other. To be honest, I've always found each expansion media tours to be the most pointless form of advertisement. It's little more than an invite for the 'cool kids' and what they get to show us after embargo is usually either not that interesting to begin with compared to what SE has already shown off in a previous LL, or something that is so old that it has changed by the time we have access to the full game.
Just the ones who have played in the past 14 days. Which however many there may be, hints at even more who can't even post here.
Also, compartmentalizing critics as "doomposters" is rarely productive commentary.
ARR Beta Test
I will play it from the early access. I am not looking forward to it, but I don't want to come in with a "it's gonna suck" mindset either.
1. How bad the 6.x MSQ was and how it managed to make the 6.0 MSQ feel worse in retrospect.
2. How boring the jobs and content look. I haven't cared much for any of the Endwalker content at all and if it weren't for content like Eureka, Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High still being available (and fun)I probably would have unsubbed. I'm just not confident that SE can make engaging content anymore.
I think this is the best way to explain my Dawntrail Journey.
I was super excited back when it was announced, but each piece of information that we got has kind of taken all the excitement out of it.
The forums have always been a haven for negativity, nothing new or surprising there. What's most likely going to happen is the usual complainers around here will whine and complain, create their echo chamber, the game will launch and be massively popular, and they'll be left wondering how. Destiny 2 is a great case in point - if you think these forums are "uneasy" or "apathetic", they look like a paradise compared to the D2 ones leading up to their own new expansion that just released this week. D2 even significantly underperformed in terms of pre-sales. What ended up happening? The new xpac still saw the expected population explosion (minus the servers biting the dust day one) and it's generally getting great reviews. DT in comparison has the most pre-sales already of any FFXIV xpac. Huge numbers of players will be satisfied, while the malcontents continue naysaying everything here. 1.) Started in ARR, played on and off until about 2021, steadily since then.
2.) Absolutely. I'm actually glad to have some time off in the first couple weeks the xpac will be live for the first time with FFXIV. I've thoroughly enjoyed my FFXIV experience so far throughout the years, I'm still having a ton of fun in the game, and I'm expecting to continue doing so in DT.
3.) Honestly, I couldn't care less about "media tours" and the like. Didn't pay any attention to it.

Yes, mainly because I hope Pictomancer is a job I can enjoy again.
No but I can't make an opinion until I actually sit down and play it. However, I do understand where members of the community are coming from. I have the benefit of watching the game change time and time again. People feel like SE isn't listening to their needs, which is true to degrees. When your job or role is up end without so much as a peep from the dev team, people have a right to upset, I was. In fact the summoner change is the main reason I rarely played Endwalker, it stop being fun. I don't want to close the book on FFXIV but aspects of the game do need to change to keep me going forward. Not sure an overhaul on graphics was the right first step going forward. Would have preferred they focused on Battle Design first.
HeavenswardWhen did you start playing
Yes and no. It's 2024, and we all have to buy in to some slop because that's what our leaders told us. We can choose the flavor of slop, but we have to consoom slop nonetheless. It's just a 2024 thing and people LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. I'm already familiar with this brand of slop so there's no point trying anything else. Will you play DT at launch, and are you looking forward to it? Why or why not?
Yeah, it shows everyone that it'll be a cutscene-and-AFK kind of game, and people will LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. As the great sage four posts above said, your opinions literally do not matter. Those of a higher social standing will designate Dawntrail as yet another 9/10 sloppa approved for mass consumption, a million people will buy the slop, they will consume and then put it down to buy something else. And we are supposed to be okay with this because that's your role in life and you need to comply. The world isn't a democracy. Gone are "hobby games" like WoW and older MMOs that were passion projects rather than slot machines. You will have nothing and you will be happy.Did the media tour sway your decision, and do you think there's any way you'll change your mind before DT actually comes out?
1) I tried the free trial way back when MNK had greased lightning but don't remember the Expac. Started playing for real in Shadowbringers, probably 5.3 or later.
2) Yes, mostly because i play with my Fc guildies and it's a good time. I'm looking foward not for the story especailly if they double down the Endwalker aproach with the scion or themes, but for the Field Operation content, i enjoyed Eureka, Bozja and Zadnor so i hope they don't disappoint.
3) I was indifferent about the media tour but i can see why some people were disapointed by the class changes (or lack of thereof).
