The cast time was fine. It added some real flavor to the spell. *sigh*
On the one hand: It is actually okay if a spell caster has to stand still to cast a spell.Esuna: Cast time has been made instant.
On the other hand: I could be okay with a systematic approach to cast times where weaker spells, learned earlier in the leveling process eventually become something akin to cantrips from D&D (the last I played was 3.5e, so cut me some slack on the comparison), whereas more recent, presumably more powerful spells have longer cast times. Emphasis on systematic approach.
Healers are so fucking back wooGlare III : Potency has been increased from 330 to 340.
But yea, the patch notes are instead of trying to bring Healers back, they're buffing Tanks to compensate for the lack of Healers.

Holy brought to 1.5s cast time. Imagine playing a spellcaster and not wanting to stand still and cast spells. Very CBU3-esque change.

Well they already have the mindset that people play Healer because they don't want to heal, as it's consistently becoming the Tanks job to keep themselves alive... So why not add to that and just remove cast times as well...
I understand that people aren't that happy with what they see aas elements of skill expression being removed in a number of cases.
That being said, looking at how this game is adding more demands on jobs to be mobile at all levels of content- maybe it's not that great to play a turret job in a game that keeps demanding more and more mobility? and before you come back with "please, learn to slidecast"- if they are making these changes, it's possible that it aligns with even more need for mobility in future.
Whyyyy would you give Holy a 1.5 sec cast time? Heaven forbid people learn to swiftcast it when opening a pull.
I'm sorry, but being the "immobile turret" is the whole point of playing caster. The team keeps saying that these changes are for harder content but when did they ever truly deliver on that promise? And what is going to happen with previous content? People already meme on SMN being the fourth phys ranged because it's a caster with very little cast time, for example. I'll give healer a try up until level 100. If I do not like it, I'm off the role, entirely.Was this what Yoshi P wanted for people like me? Did he assume we were too foolish to take any semblance of complexity? How could such an allegedly open developer act so dismissive towards his own players? The flavor of the jobs I loved so much throughout the franchise were mere husks of themselves. What was once a magical world peeled away to reveal a sterile room of four walls. No imagination, no challenge, only accessibility for the sake of it. I didn't feel welcomed, I felt betrayed.
BLM manages this with triplecast, aetherial manipulation, firestarter, thunder, paradox, and now Despair. RDM manages it with dualcast, spellblades, and acceleration.
