Meh idk viper changes are weird I give you that, but also I have ran into people that have complained it is tad busy and hard to follow.
Kaiten is another example, literally nobody actually asked for Kaiten to be removed. Some people now retroactively say “eh it was just bloat” but nobody was actively going to square and saying “please delete Kaiten it’s the worst part of SAM’s kit”
They have also acknowledged they made a lot of mistakes with EW’s patch design
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
It would make more sense if they decided on the changes a little later. Not less then a week after the class was released, while people are still learning the thing
I have stated SE is not perfect, maybe I am just more jaded cause SE killed the playstyle and job I loved which was smn. I hope healer strike can prove me wrong.Kaiten is another example, literally nobody actually asked for Kaiten to be removed. #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
They also take player feedback into account in their data. (or at least, I hope they do). So a 700 page forum thread with a ton of people expressing distaste with the healer role should probably turn some heads. That is not my argument, my argument is SE will use their own data as a bases to make changes, we can cry and whine all we want but if their data supports their view they will make adjustments around that. Hey make your posts state your concerns, I hope healers get what they want, but I am not holding my breath.
As stated I hate current smn, I want old smn back but no amount of crying or posting feedback will bring back old smn. Screaming into a void is fun and all, but yeah.
Edit: Correct choice is subjective, clearly they have a different view as to what is correct or right with game design.
GZ all on 7000 posts, now for another 7000
It really does feel (and to me, during EW too) that the shoe had swapped feet, that WOW was the underdog that was now fighting to regain the trust of its playerbase after having taken them for granted (with Dragonflight and now The War Within), and SE has become the 'king' that believes it is too large to fail
Now we just need Yoshi P to have a "You think you do, but you don't" moment to complete the circle.GZ all on 7000 posts, now for another 7000

Isn't that what 'If you want challenging gameplay as healer, give ultimate a try!' was? Or how about 'please give healers a try' (in response to Abyssos causing a shortage)? Or what about the one that went something like 'Our data showed SCH was forcing WHM to do all the healing' (the charts from the time showed the two to be equal on HPS, and with the 'Mitigation = HPS' change to FFlogs, SCH would dominate in said charts)
YoshiP's had plenty of 'moments', I'd say
Surely you have sources for this claim that Healers complained about the old healer Design. The thing about the healer strike that confuses me, didn't healers have more DPS buttons to press back in the day like sch or had more things to engage with such as cleric stance and astro cards? Wasn't healing not as easy for the masses due to cleric stance, and tanks using dps accessories and tanking in dps stance so aggro was more of a group effort.
Overall the game had more engagement back in the day but didn't people complain? Healers complained how annoying it was to heal tanks in dps stance, astro complained how the card system was not engaging because it was just fishing for balance and the RNG did not feel good. Community complained sch would have have the fairy heal and end up letting people die? How cleric stance was unfun and clunky leading to unnecessary deaths cause it was just annoying to manage.
SE listened, and now people are upset SE is not listening? They gave the masses what they want a more streamlined experience.
Edit: I am not saying how the DEVS handled stuff in the past was perfect but they did try, and the community asked for the removal of stuff not the adjustment. Yet now they are upset when the stuff is gone? People even stated that we should be careful what we ask of the DEV's because often times things do not get replaced when they are removed.
Because if you had been active back in the day (or just went to the depths of ~page 80 on wards of the healer Forum) you'd know that No. Even back during Stormblood AST didn't primarily complain about balance fishing but having the least DoTs.
And that WHM's StB lilies were broken.
