When we say we want healers to be designed better, people tell us that we should just not play healers because they're not designed for us.
Then when we say "Ok, we'll stop playing healers", people tell us that we're being toxic to the other players by not filling the queues as a healer.

Covers a lot if not all of the points of feedback players have given over the years and we can't be called out for "not giving feedback" if we link as many of these threads as possible in the opening post of this thread. Also I'm in for a strike, anything to help healers be heard for change

and when you point that out, they just don't respond to questions about why they're so pressed about how other people spend their time? If it won't work and doesn't affect them, then why are they coming in here to call us names and try and make the effort wither on the vine?

if it wouldn't work, why are they trying so hard to stop us?

Never played Wow, but this is great to hear!

I miss the days of being actively sought after as a top healer in EQ1, EQ2, and Aion. These days I feel lucky if an MMO even has a healing class since so many of them just decided to drop Healers for action combat.

In XIV I make jokes in Alliance Raids about only needing to press a heal button every half hour. While obviously not true, it just feels that way.

actively sought after in Aion = fantastic gaming experience for a cleric, however horrible experience for any other class without a static cleric, any guilds trying to keep their clerics, any parties trying to find clerics especially for time-sensitive content (sieges, dredge, anything) .

I would be happy with a middle ground where we move from FFXIV healers are dead weight/ tolerated as necessary to treated as equal to other jobs.

I'll be genuinely interested in seeing how this goes. How many people will devote themselves to this? And will that number be impactful enough for the devs to take notice? I won't make any assumptions, but it'll be interesting to see.

I'm also interested in seeing what percentage of players walk their talk. We're all probably aware of the infamous Call of Duty boycott screenshot. Whether this turns out different or the same, it'll be interesting.

comparing CoD players with MMO players is kinda a weird choice.

what you SHOULD be comparing is the monk strike in guild wars 1. (circa 2007).

a first person shooter and an mmorpg are VERY different beasts, in terms of core player base.

That's fair. Aion Clerics were on the OP side for sure. But XIV Healers feel on the verge of pointless for a lot of content. I feel almost no skill expression 99% of my gameplay time.

For most of us, it's not even a boycott. We're just genuinely bored of playing healers and have little reason to continue playing the role at all.

As for how it'll turn out? Who knows. It'll have done its job if it manages to cause a noticeable dip in the dev team's precious metrics. Doesn't even have to be a particularly big dip, just one that they notice.

According to https://mmo-population.com/r/ffxiv FFXIV has 55m accounts but 550k daily active players soooo 161 upvotes is a extremely small portion of the playerbase.

according to https://activeplayer.io/final-fantasy-xiv/ there are 17m active accounts currently, something needs to be done but these numbers supporting it need to either be pumped up or the playerbase numbers needs to dwindle rapidly ie cancel accounts.
