    Agreed. Speaking of BLM and Manawall, it's an excellent design choice that doesn't really encroach on any other role or job space. Manawall could potentially secure a dungeon clear in 0.001% of rare circumstances, but it in no way makes BLM a viable alternative to a tank role. Can we say the same about the healers? Any particular jobs or roles encroaching on them? Hmm.

    Well I'd love to but, unfortunately, the methods by which my extremely-savant friend manages to calculate massive quantites of combat-log numbers in their head are not approved-of by the local authorities here.

    However, don't worry! There's a work-around. As long as you can figure out the name of my good friend — and they're fairly well-known around the community — then you don't even need to trust my word for it.

    If you hypothetically end up finding their house, you too can look through their records — which even conveniently have the Percent Damage Contribution calculations already performed for you.

    If the roles (no pun intended) are ever reversed tanks will have my support. But I am very sure that will not be needed. tanks performance or their place on content has rarely been ignored by the devs.

    I think you missed the part where just last page you quoted me saying I have no issue with them making healers more interesting, but not at the expense of other jobs. You're preaching making them better at the expense of other jobs. I don't know what sort of "gotcha" this was supposed to be, but you completely missed it.

    The hard reality is that a key thing making Healers obsolete under the current encounter and dungeon design is the over-tuning of Tanks, with Warrior being the most egregious offender. The options are to either push the damage output of normal content such that Tanks cannot sustain themselves and need to rely on Healers, or Tank sustain is pruned.

    The latter is the easier change to implement (and can be easily adjusted as more data is collected and analysed) and also avoids risking punishing DPS players with one-hit deaths when either a mechanic hits them or they end up in a situation where they briefly hold enmity.

    Anyone who suggests that the healer redundancy problem can be fixed in a vacuum without touching the other roles is exhibiting naivete with regards to how balancing in games works. Any changes to healer kits will not mean much when a Warrior still has 4 GCDs of up to 2400 cure potency in trash pulls on a 25 second CD, and 1,200 cure potency oGCD heal with a 200 potency regen on top of it.

    Tanks being damn near invincible already comes at the expense of the healers, something has to give and asking for the tanks to remain as-is will only fix part of the issue.

    Healers should be able to give a constant 30% party wide damage increase buff and DPS should be able to negate tank busters.

    Sounds like a win win to me.
