Please don't put words in my mouth. TYVM.
My bad, point still mostly stands. When an expansion drops, we have to relearn our jobs anyway. The difference between 'forum user's ideas would make me have to relearn my job' and 'SE's expansion additions/reworks mean I have to relearn my job' are a distinction without difference to my mind
I do find it frustrating as a WHM main that sages in particular appear incapable of co-healing, they either seem to do nothing or everything with little to no in between.
Can't speak for those who do nothing, but for the latter, my excuse is that I am often just bored.
SGE just has so much pointless healing it’s easier on the SGE’s part to basically pretend like they are solo healing 90% of the time
At least SCH likely has go change a bit of their plan if the regen healer decides they want to fall asleep
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
I still want to know what the team was thinking when they came out with Seraphism.
"Oh, a giant burst is happening? Don't worry, I can just hit this button and basically be two healers in one!"
I'll give healer a try up until level 100. If I do not like it, I'm off the role, entirely. Was this what Yoshi P wanted for people like me? Did he assume we were too foolish to take any semblance of complexity? How could such an allegedly open developer act so dismissive towards his own players? The flavor of the jobs I loved so much throughout the franchise were mere husks of themselves. What was once a magical world peeled away to reveal a sterile room of four walls. No imagination, no challenge, only accessibility for the sake of it. I didn't feel welcomed, I felt betrayed.
I'll pitch in:
"Metric says WHM is the most played healer. That means if we give WHM-esque skill to SCH (or any other), that will draw more player count into the healer pool!"
For the last few expansions it's been more a case of figuring out which parts of your job have been removed than "relearning your job".My bad, point still mostly stands. When an expansion drops, we have to relearn our jobs anyway. The difference between 'forum user's ideas would make me have to relearn my job' and 'SE's expansion additions/reworks mean I have to relearn my job' are a distinction without difference to my mind
A skill so visually at-odds with the established identity/lore of the Job, even JP asked 'yo why did you add this'
A skill that removed certain player model's entire jaw on launch
A skill which has a mutual exclusivity rule with another action (Dissipation), but said rule works differently to all other rules in the Job kit. You can't use Fey Blessing while in Seraph, you can't use Dissipation while in Seraph, you can't use Union while in Seraph. But while you can't use Seraphism during Dissipation, you CAN use Dissipation during Seraphism, which immediately ends the Seraphism buff. So you can screw yourself out of Seraphism duration by being too jumpy/panicked (which is the exact time you'd be considering pressing Seraphism and/or Dissipation, presumably), potentially.
A skill which grants access to two new actions which don't need to exist, and have their own bizarre conflicts and mutual exclusivities. Manifestation and Accession are nothing more than 'Adloquium and Concitation, but instantcast and 20% stronger', the effect could have been mimicked by just having Seraphism's effect be 'makes Adlo/Concitation instant cast, and increases their potency by 20%'. But because Manifestation and Accession aren't Adloquium and Concitation, Recitation doesn't work on them, so you can't guarantee-crit a Manifestation for a Deployment, for example
And it randomly has a Regen effect attached. Could have had the skill be Tactical/Military themed, call it Tabula Rasa, call the Regen effect 'Inspiring Presence' or something more military themed
I hate Seraphism
