Don't want to be the buzz killer here but lets not forget that feedback has a recomendation value. The devs can implant it, change it or outright throw in the can. But the feedback itself is not a judge signed court order where the devs are mandated to act on.

Y'know, I am genuinely curious what it's like to be someone who doesn't try? Why bother trying to overcome challenge when you can pull everything down to your level? Go back to sitting on the bench, kid while the rest of us push for a real game. Don't forget I like my Gatorade Lemon Lime.
I'll give healer a try up until level 100. If I do not like it, I'm off the role, entirely. Was this what Yoshi P wanted for people like me? Did he assume we were too foolish to take any semblance of complexity? How could such an allegedly open developer act so dismissive towards his own players? The flavor of the jobs I loved so much throughout the franchise were mere husks of themselves. What was once a magical world peeled away to reveal a sterile room of four walls. No imagination, no challenge, only accessibility for the sake of it. I didn't feel welcomed, I felt betrayed.
Please try to stay civil.
And it will only get worse with MSQ players tide inevitably washing over, veteran players stepping down because they already cleared/geared up this easier savage tier and the general lull between patches driving players away (where content, SE, by the way?).
I am curious what post-Dawntrail time will show us. Another healer shortage...
You're hanging out with some pals in a restaurant when some random guy sits at your table, insults you and your friends, then gets up and leaves.
"Huh, that was weird."
You continue your conversation, and then another random person comes by, says the exact same thing, then gets up and leaves. It happens two more times, with varying levels of engagement, but the same overall dismissiveness.
"What is going on?"
As you are getting dessert, the first guy comes BACK to your table, says "Wow, you guys are still talking? WTF? You were supposed to stop when I showed up!"
"Hey, you're COMING OVER HERE, and TALKING TO US. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?"
"Guys guys, be civil, chill chill!"
Like, I understand it, I really do, but civility is difficult when you have people who legitimately don't understand, and frankly, don't want to understand why people have issues with supports in this game. They'd much rather deal out sick one liner combos on "stupid elitists" and be in much more practical, productive, and realistic environments than the Official Forum intended for feedback on the battle system, like the ever constructive and positive Youtube comment section or babysitting DF where healers are so overstressed I guess, people apparently cannot help themselves from getting hit and need to be rescued out of basic point blank aoes.
Two way street. If the developers don't respect supports enough to provide actual data, sensible justification for design, actual role design leads or legitimize complaints, why should we expect the players who disagree with us inherently to ever do so? FFXIV deserves the Green River, honestly.
I'm honestly curious how many people will still be playing healers in DF once they finish levelling all of their jobs? Because that's the relevant number. We don't need to consider the amount of healers during the levelling period, what matters is the amount of people who settle as healer mains and whether that number goes down.
You don't have a way of counting that and you're just moving the goalposts.I'm honestly curious how many people will still be playing healers in DF once they finish levelling all of their jobs? I don't need to have a way to count that, only the dev team needs to be able to see it, and if the settled number dips low enough, they can deal with that.
Regardless, I'm not the one that set the goalposts down, so I'm not moving them.
Here's the thing. Comments like this - which are quite common throughout this thread - are just you being the one, going over to their (the dev's) table, insulting them, and then acting all confused that they don't listen to you. Not to mention the plethora of people in here that just belittle anyone who dares to raise counter-points. Oh, and for the record, two weeks in a row now that in both DF and the raid series, Tanks have been insta-queues for me while Healers are taking a minute or two.Two way street. The goal posts just moved from the next county to the next state! We don't need to consider the amount of healers during the levelling period, what matters is the amount of people who settle as healer mains and whether that number goes down.
But compared to the playerbase - or even just other online spaces where FFXIV is discussed - it's rather small. This thread has also slowed down considerably as time has gone on.For fourm standards, 400 is huge. It also continues to be the fastest growing thread.
So, you're acknowledging that what you want to do is just screech the loudest so the devs will potentially ruin the game for many other people just to please you? (The good news is the devs seem to be very good at using their own internal metrics to see what said "silent majority" really wants and then going that route.)However small we are, we are much more vocal about what we want, and a vocal minority tends to have their way over a silent majority.
Did this 'silent majority' ask for Miasma to be removed from SCH? Or Shadowflare? Did this 'silent majority' ask for Kaiten to be removed from SAM? I don't think they did. Because if they did, then they'd stop being 'silent', surely.
I think it's far more likely that the devs make changes, and 'silent majority' is simply a convenient nebulous amalgam that can be pointed to as the scapegoat for any bad decisions.
But as for goalpost movement, I agree with you. The devs have internal metrics to work off of. Unfortunately for your point, though, said metrics should include things like 'the picture of a JP PF I linked one page ago', which show the terrible lack of healers for high end content. So, if they want to 'see what silent majority really wants and go that route', it looks to me like the 'silent majority' silently decided they didn't feel like healing M4S and so they gotta make some changes to bring them back. And call me cynical, but I don't think 'another OGCD that heals the party for X potency, with a 90s CD' is going to lure people back onto the green
