If you mean in FFXIV (in its current state), I agree. If you mean a support/healer role in any MMO, I could not disagree more. The responsibility and the sense of accomplishment from preventing a wipe or saving a critical situation can be very rewarding. And, being always alert during an engagement, to be able to react to unexpected damage spikes makes it engaging. Combine that with resource management (mana/energy and cooldowns), strategy (using the right spell, making sure to not overheal), a little bit of creativity (fixing problems "on the spot"), and you will have a lot of fun
Well, some of the engaged dedicated healers, as this thread shows, fixed that mistake.
Don't worry, my gut tells me that the majority of them will get bored soon and will stop queueing.

Shouldn’t you subject yourself to the same standard if you are to point out the issue? From my last post on this thread:
I also earlier suggested potentially focusing on lowering the max ilvl that various roulette content utilizes. We're noticing the need for more healing in current content, and also pointing out how it's because we're actually at the intended gear levels for it, but SE puts the ceiling so high that the challenge soon disappears. Consider how Alliance Raids end up skipping mechanics over time. So no, I wouldn't dismiss ideas completely out of hand just because.
Also, nothing in my comment was in any way even pretending to be "for the betterment of the strike"; I was responding to someone and pointing out the underlying flaw.
This...umm...was exactly my point...when you get so many different "problems" being claimed, and so many of those "problems" directly contradict each other, the only logical conclusion becomes that no matter what you do, some people will be dissatisfied. There's "seemingly no proposed solution" because in that scenario, the "solution" is to change nothing. For a "strike" to succeed, it needs very clear, very specific, actionable goals. Not a hodge-podge of conflicting desires with a sizable portion denying there's even a desire to change anything in the first place.
One moment healers on the forum got accused of filthy elitists who do not sympathize the obstacles causal players have been experiencing, by people like you. One moment people like spreadsheet guy say strike supporters are casuals who have zero understanding about how healers should be played in high end content.
One moment we have the voice of silent majority claiming people on the forum are vocal minority and thus healer strike will have zero impact on queues. One moment we have people getting so mad at this movement that they threw ad hominem insults at supporters for being disruptive and harmful to the innocent player base.
So, as the voice and the representative of the silent majority in game, what’s your unified opinion? You don’t seem to have one. If I may be so bold, please consult with millions of players in game and only get back to us until you are in harmonious agreement.
By the way, SE never needs unanimous feedback to implement changes.
People complaining Viper being too busy are minority, yet SE deigned it necessary to change it anyway
People complaining AST being RNG do not represent the silent majority, yet SE deigned it necessary to change it anyway
People do not have unified opinion about MNK rework, yet SE deigned it necessary to change it anyway
People so mad at Kaiten removal that stunned Yoshida for 15 minutes straight with their negative comments during live letter stream, yet SE deigned it necessary to change it anyway
Unless… you’re trying to say SE is so incompetent that they can never take a step forward until the players as whole manage to unify every single one of them under the same flag, which never happens and never will.

What a tank should do is tank, not DPS or heal. So delete all self-sustain from tanks and cut all damage buttons except for one spammable attack and one DoT. Cut GNB's rotation back to just Keen Edge, over and over and over. If tanks are allowed to have DPS rotations beyond just pressing 1111111, then they might fail and forget to mitigate a tankbuster, and it would make tanks too complex and all the lil' babby casuals would abandon the role, and nobody would ever clear content ever again, ever. Tanks must be made piss-easy to play, because what a tank should do is tank, not DPS or heal.
It's the exact same logic, yet none of you Sylphies have any answer for it when it's pointed out.
Also, refuted previously here.
Tanks are Blue DPS already, but I don't see you complaining that this made "savage and ex too hard" or that "99% of casuals will quit the role." Your join date is 2023. So you clearly missed the ARR and HW era of healers having more complex DPS kits, and far fewer healing tools, than they do now, and yet, "99% of casuals" did not quit the role. They did just fine and things got cleared. If they added dps 123 for healer then theyde just be green dps. Instead we should be aiming to make healing better so that theyre not just standing around 11111 spamming. If u just make them a green dps savage and ex could wind up being to hard. Not to mention the casual 99% will quit the role
It's utterly hilarious watching you anti-strikers trying to gaslight us into believing that we didn't actually experience the things we experienced a decade ago. I healed in ARR and HW, and yes, as a casual healer who never set foot in anything beyond EXs. Did you?
Really? Because I'm a DNC main now, and I'm reasonably certain that I have Curing Waltz, Improvisation, and Second Wind on my hotbars. I also have Shield Samba if we want to get into mitigation tools. And also, potions are a thing.
There's also this job called RDM, maybe you've heard of it? Spammable Vercure? The best rezzer in the game because of Dualcast?
Translated: "Stop being so uppity and get back to thecotton fieldshealer queues!"
"Once upon a time, you were the based healer, who could carry any tank through the largest of pulls! Now you're just here because the Duty Finder said you have to be." - Lucy Pyre
You heard it here first folks, anytime the healer has to leave mid dungeon it’s instantly the fault of the healer strike
The lengths people will go to to do anything besides actually engage with our arguments is impressive at this point
I had a tank collect 5 vuln stacks, die, then leave in an expert roulette earlier. Clearly all tanks are evil and they deserve to be nerfed.
I never said don't provide feedback and suggestions.First of all, it isn't Square's game. Yes, I realize that they own the rights to it, however just as I do not own a single pixel, neither does any developer own anything, regardless of how much blood, sweat and tears they put into their work. If people don't sub, all of their work is moot.
Secondly, I don't find it productive to accuse people of hypocrisy. Neither you nor I know who would be happy with future changes, I find those people who make a effort to discuss and propose changes , and invest their time to try to find common ground, to have a much more positive and productive attitude.
I said we need to learn acceptance that we're not always going to get what we want.
As for it not being SE's game, sorry but it is. They own the game. They make the game they want to make. They can choose to listen to and implement feedback they receive, or they can choose to ignore it. They're not going to lose all the current subscribers over this because most players don't have a stake in this strike and find it more humorous than convincing.
Some of us originally came into the thread to try to discuss the problems and find common ground but got ridiculed because we didn't agree with everything the strikers said. Most gave up since the strikers were not interested in having that productive conversation you envision. The strikers themselves aren't even unified regarding what change is needed. There may be no common ground in this situation because not even the strikers have managed to find one beyond agreement they don't like the state of healing.
So can the strikers accept that even among themselves not everyone will be pleased by whatever the outcome is? That there's a strong chance that none of them will end up pleased because SE will stick to the status quo if what the posters from the JP forums said earlier in the thread was accurate about JP players being fine with healing how it is?
The strike has 2 fronts, those who want more damage buttons and the one who wants to heal more.I never said don't provide feedback and suggestions.

#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
It's unfortunate there arent something like 4 different healer jobs within the role that all could work differently, accommodating different prefered playstyles.
