If it were 'literally that easy' we wouldn't be in this situation. JP thinks the devs only listen to the West, the West thinks the devs only listen to JP. We hear they make changes based on 'feedback' but they never say where the feedback is from. Who told them that healers needed to have every DOT removed except one, so that their gameplay (across all four, mind you) is 'press DOT once per 30s, press filler spell ELEVEN times until DOT expires'? Sometimes it feels like there's no player giving this feedback. That it feels like the dev team has some warped vision of what the Healer role should be, and that saying 'it's based on feedback' will placate the players, or at least, get them to argue with one another instead of against the devs' vision of the role.
Please let me show everyone, some examples of what other jobs would look like, if they had Healer gameplay:
Enjoy the new Warrior, everybody, no need to worry about overcapping on gauge, because there is no gauge here. Just put your Once-Per-30s buff/debuff up, and fill with your filler ability for 11 GCDs in a row! That way, you won't have to worry about having no room to weave mitigations, after all, you're a tank, your primary job is to mitigate damage, not deal it!
Does this look familiar? Well, it might look like ARR Bard gameplay, but that's where you'd be wrong, as ARR BRD had a couple of key differences! Firstly, it had Bloodletter procs to spend, secondly it had Misery's End at the end of a fight, thirdly it had Flaming Arrow as a ground-target OGCD akin to Shadowflare, fourthly it had Straight Shot procs to spend (and the associated buff to maintain), fifth, it had Repelling Shot which did damage for some reason, and sixth the same for Blunt Arrow (resulting in some Silenceable casts not getting silenced because the BRD had used Blunt Arrow for damage). Finally, seventh, saving the biggest for last, Venomous Bite was 18s duration, not 30s, meaning you'd use 7 GCDs between refreshes, not 11. That's right, whenever there's nothing to heal (which happens far too often), Healers have less gameplay than ARR Bard. Or, EW Bard in ARR level dungeons. Either or.
I did not. This is not me. This could be me, if I wanted to spend an hour proving a point. I likely have the level of skill required to do such a thing. The fact that it is possible to do, is a damning indictment of the idea that we have three co-equal pillars of a trinity system (tank, healer, DPS). I think that there is a time and a place for 'do crazy solo challenges', like Deep Dungeon solo runs. Not something like this.
As an aside, did you know that, if the current WAR kit were available 6 years ago in SB, this 'WAR solos first normal mode raid' video would have been impossible? O1N, yes normal mode, has an enrage timer. A long one, admittedly, but it's there, and you can go test it out to see it for yourself.
