There's two different accusations of griefing which has really poisoned the discourse.

A) We're intentionally trying to obstruct queues by not playing healers, "just do duty support etc." We're really just not playing a job that isn't fun anymore and bringing attention to why exactly it isn't fun anymore.

B) We're queueing as a healer but not doing our job intentionally to... what, own the tank? Nobody that's part of the strike is doing this
We're not queueing at all, that's our only purpose anymore just making a queue pop.

I had been thinking about this since this whole thing began, and honestly I don't even want MORE dps, I just want it to be interesting, so maybe this could work well as an idea.

When you start with your 1 ability, it changes one of your cure options to a new action for dps "combo". You could do this with a 2 ability and 3 ability so you have a 1,2,3 combo sequence (obviously could vary way past my simple mind) That way, you can have an a ton of options still available to you, a true rotation, and then you can vary it at times to leave combo action 3 up and heal and then return to combo and keep your abc's between heals. It would be pretty easy to weave ogcd's between attacks also if you got practiced.

While I don't play on controller, it would at least make it to where I need to look at my abilities more and check where I am at in rotation/what healing options I have available for a given moment. Tbh, got most of this idea after playing way too much Viper recently so you can prolly see that kinda play style in this idea, I just could see it work with the framework we already have + keep it to be without adding a ton of extra buttons.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of this though. Maybe the Cure I/II trait thing could be 100% and using Cure I automatically switches Cure II to an OGCD version with a free stack. Just spitballing. It's not a lot of extra healing but it's a bump.

I mean, if that's the case then all dps rotations are the same thing, but I completely get you. *shrug* I am not a designer so I can only offer suggestions is hopes to get to the right one. I haven't played too hard with WHM, but always heard about the "free cure bait" so that could actually make that useful!

And also, I have been a day one striker and honestly, this has been the main message from the beginning of "We are bored, please help please help, we are bored" and then we get the same thing. There are other points to the strike because it is mulitple viewpoints, but it mostly stems back to that, we just don't enjoy being bored. There have been others that flame in here saying things and, well I know I am happy to talk about points like people but when flames are burning I tend to want to put them out. I do casual content more than I do high end and I have 0 reason to use half of my healing kit 99% of the time, what we want is reasons to press more than 1 button for the majority of our playing.

Why are you so against people wanting to enjoy a role whose responsibility is being taken away more and more with every expansion?

I think at its core, the issue is that different people both have different experiences and different things that they enjoy. A change that might make Person A "enjoy" a role more could just as easily make Person B "enjoy" that role less. For example, I heal regularly, but only in roulettes with random, typical players. I definitely need to heal quite a bit more than many people on here would suggest. Just got out of a Vanaspati run this afternoon where one of our DPS managed multiple times to pull aggro on mobs (best guess is that the tank missed something with his initial AoE and then only did single-target attacks?). Said tank also saved mitigation skills for bosses rather than trash packs. That run took most of my healing kit and I probably spent more time on trash pulls healing than doing DPS. And that's not too much of an outlier. Most random tanks I run with, even the infamous WAR, frequently need at least some active healing to keep up in a dungeon unless they're only single-pulling packs.

There's also the possibility that other people simply don't mind if "most" of their time healing is spent spamming one spell. It could well be the "rush" you get when people inevitably mess up and you need to pull out your full repertoire to save the day. They could enjoy the priority being keeping a watch on everyone's health bars instead of going through a DPS rotation while playing a healer. (Yes, I may well be including myself in this group of people...)

On top of that, there have been plenty of comments made about how healers have had more to do in DT content so far. It may well be due to the reality that we haven't overgeared things yet giving a misleading impression of how things will ultimately go, but at least so far I'm not sure how that jives with our responsibility being "taken away" more with each expansion.

Indeed. Like people who respond to posts that point out more healing has been needed in DT by insinuating they are just bad healers, right? (No matter how non-sensical that even is...)

I agree about that fact healers need to be able to heal more, this whole issue that healers role is being taken away is annoying and dumb.

As a new sage player who is gonna main it I think everyone here is a whining bitch who needs to play another job but doesn't have the guts to do so. I like the down time, it allows me to dps abs get addersgall stacks. I run with pugs so it's always a challenge and i get comms out the ass because I prioritize healing over dps. Isn't that crazy? I mean, they are a learning healer, as shown by the thread in healer subforum asking for learning advices for SGE and is leveling one currently. I'll commend them for doing that much because typical Sylphies never even reach that point.

That being said... give it time Let that WAR/PLD told them to not heal because these chonky heroic tanks will do the job/play the game for them. Let their party finish a dungeon without them from 90% when they f*ck up something. Let that tank yell at them for even trying to GCD heal. Let those RDM/SMNs steals their raises. Let that 1 hotkey wears out from overuse. Let that--- *cough*

[...]It feels good to drag back the team from the brink of disaster by keeping your head cool and running triage. Maybe my brain is just broken from having mained healers in MMOs for years but these situations are what I used to love about the role. They made me feel something other than boredom.

Don't worry, you're not alone there. This is exactly why I loved to force the ivalice/nier raids to pop simply because they don't happen quite often and there's often something going wrong - and I know I can fix them by keeping myself calm & collected, choosing the right tools to drag the clown fiesta to the finish line. It's something that's been missing from a lot facet of healer's gameplay.

Now, does these situations imparts great deal of stresses to the non-healers within the same clownfest of a duty? Oh certainly, to a varying degree depending on each players. This is merely one aspect that makes player a healer enjoyable. What would happen if everybody knows what to do? Nothing. So... can we actually get to have fun in these situations? Y'know... maybe upkeep certain buff? debuff? utility? not just 'more dps options'? Instead of spamming 1 button 90% of time ad nauseam on any healers? Oh oops, apparently asking for all of that is also illegal for the 3rd rate citizens lmao sorry.

People shouldn't be surprised with the outrage given there's a lot double standard going on here. They deserve all these flaks and I have no sympathy for these job devs.

Me personally I find SGE boring because it’s a clone of SCH with an even lower skill floor than SCH already has. It’s kinda flashy I’ll give it that but to me it’s boring because it just plays like a worse; but smoother SCH and I don’t even like modern SCH that much compared to its old iterations
