As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

I never feel stressed when I play tank, of course I never feel stressed when playing DPS, but playing healers is stressful to me. That's all that lies beneath my "I don't want to play healers", and yet I still have all healers 90.
Some people just don't like to play healers, because it may be stressful, it may be hard, it may be that they want to be the MC and do big damage, or whatever : healers just doesn't appeal to them. That's all it's indicating. Stop reading beneath that.

Thank you, OP, and everyone else who is convicted in proceeding with the strike.
I will be joining as well!
We have endured 5 years of this mind-numbingly boring gameplay, and for what?
Just to receive a single new damage action attached to a massively long cooldown?
To get completely overshadowed by tanks when it comes to doing this pathetic amount of healing that is required of us?
Enough is enough. We don't want to wait 2.5 years for a potential fix; we want it for Dawntrail!
My conditions to end the strike:
Disclaimer
I know that some of these, like "bring X back" might be a bit unrealistic to ask for, so I'll probably be satisfied with only the changes that tweak numbers on already existing actions. Those alone could go a long way to help with the boredom.
Astrologian
- To add engagement back, most cards we draw should stay as damage buffs.
I suggest that (at the very least) two out of the four cards we draw each time be damage buffs.
This would make the number of weaves during the burst windows similar to what we have in Endwalker.
For Example:
- Astral Draw:
● The Balance (offensive): 6% damage buff to a melee DPS or tank, or a 3% damage buff to any other role;
● The Spire (offensive): 6% damage buff to a ranged DPS or healer, or a 3% damage buff to any other role;
● The Bole (defensive): 10% mitigation buff as well as a 400 potency shield;
● Lord of Crowns: 400p AoE damage within 20y of you.
- Umbral Draw:
● The Spear (offensive): 6% damage buff to a ranged DPS or healer, or a 3% damage buff to any other role;
● The Arrow (offensive): 6% damage buff to a melee DPS or tank, or a 3% damage buff to any other role;
● The Ewer (curative): 200p regen as well as a 10% buff to all healing received by the target;
● Lady of Crowns: 400p AoE heal within 20y of you.
- Adding another charge to Lightspeed is a must. Astrologians currently have the worst mobility of all the healers due to having to spend Lightspeed on burst windows.
- Reduce the duration of Combust (and all of its upgrades) to 15 seconds duration.
I am confident that a shorter duration DoT will keep us more attentive to its duration as opposed to the very long duration that we have now, making us easily forget about it amid our many Malefic casts.
- It looks like AST is going to take a severe hit in the mana regeneration aspect. To fix that, every Play action could generate X% amount of mana, just like both Draw actions.
-Bring Diurnal and Nocturnal Sects back, they don't need to be two separate buttons, only one to swap between the two should suffice.
Sage
- Reduce Phlegma's cooldown to 20 seconds;
- Reduce Psyche's cooldown to 30 seconds and add a second charge;
- We have two choices for DoTs: Either reduce the duration of Eukrasian Dosis (and all of its upgrades) to 15-25 seconds or reduce the duration of Eukrasian Dyskrasia to 15-25 seconds.
The whole point here is to keep both DoTs with different durations because otherwise, we don't truly have DoT management when all of them have the same duration.
White Mage
- Bring back Aero II. It should have a different duration from Aero/Dia.
- Reduce the duration of Aero (and all of its upgrades) to 15 seconds duration.
- Add a Thundercloud-like trait to Dia III and let it trigger a Sacred Sight proc allowing a cast of Glare IV. That means if the WHM used Presence of Mind at the same time as the Thundercloud-like trait triggered, the WHM will be able to hold up to 4 charges of Sacred Sight.
Scholar
- Bring back Miasma. It should have a different duration from Bio/Biolysis and Miasma II.
- Bring back Shadowflare.
- Reduce the duration of Bio (and all of its upgrades) to 15 seconds duration.
- Allow Deployment Tactics to have a double function. When the SCH is targetting an ally or themselves, the action will function the same as it does today and will activate its 90-second cooldown. But when targeting an enemy that has Bio/Biolysis applied, the action will act like an instant cast Miasma II.
This new DoT should have a different duration from Bio/Biolysis and still be a gain on a single target.
Similar to Endwalker Astrologian's Minor Arcana, the cooldown of the healing side of Deployment Tactics should still be able to be tracked even when targetting an enemy.
I'll probably be re-editing these, but right now I really need to be heading to bed lol

Boy I haven't posted here in years and rarely ever do but this one got to me, and had me thinking. How many people here who want to sign this do content on healers beyond just roulettes and maybe extremes? Let me get this straight, you want extra added complexity to your role but you don't want to make use of it? First of all, I hate to break it to you, but every role is reduced to next to 0 complexity at the moment. Everything is set within the rigid 2 minute meta they have designed and refined since Shadowbringers, and according to interviews so far, they want to fix raid design first and just let jobs continue to be the samey mess they have been for years for just a bit longer. They are aware, and it's not just healers that are complaining, it's just about everyone. And unfortunately for everyone here, the simplicity begets more subscriptions. You and I are in the minority. People want to try these jobs now because they're easier to get into, people even more casual than you.
Anyway, regardless of all of that, are you sure you want it back to the Good Old DaysTM? In my eyes, it's one of those "You think you do, but you don't" kind of moments. Unlike most people here I have been around since 1.0, and having seen the progression this game has had over the years, I promise you we are in the spot we are now because of... wait for it... not square enix or the dev team... but ourselves. The amount of complaining from back in the early days of ARR/Heavensward/Stormblood raiding led us to the removal of any and all complexity. You do not want to be burdened with MP issues constantly. You do not want Cleric Stance stance dancing, you do not want 0 ocgd healing, you do not want 5+ damaging abilities because you will be removed from a group the moment you decide not to press any of them because it's "too hard". You think you want it, but in reality, you don't, and that scares off the total subscriber count.
As far as I see it, you honestly have two options. Either stop playing the game to make your message really heard, or just wait and see what happens. They have proven time and time again they do listen to feedback despite them not being entirely vocal about it until years down the line. If you aren't willing to take that chance, simply find another game you enjoy playing. Idk, just know you're not going to get immediate change and are quite literally screaming into the void.

“You want more complexity but you don’t want to do anything with it”
I have no idea how this is the conclusion you drew
I too have been around since 1.0 and I agree feedback has gotten us at least part of the way this far, but not as far as this has gone
Complaints cut out cleric stance and complaints cut out say 6 DOT’s on SCH, complaints did not extend to “give us one button to spam while the tank does our job for us”. Every single savage this expansion was solo healed on patch, TOP was no healer healed on patch, they have gone far too far with healers. Sure all the jobs are trending towards simplicity and rigidity but they at least have something to do. A DPS isn’t taking your job as a tank, a tank isn’t taking your role as a DPS, but the tanks have literally taken over the healer role in casual content and are overpowered off healers in savage
We know we aren’t getting HW complexity back, we simply want our role to feel needed like the other roles and for our actions to feel impactful
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I knew I'd run into this argument, I should have prepped a response beforehand. Are you aware of the amount of skill it takes for a group of people to do those achievements? It is not a simple feat to no healer an ultimate, and just because it's possible does not mean your job is worthless. These people are in the 1% of the 1%. Would you trust 7 other players to be able to perform on that level? I sure wouldn't. There are a ton of challenges that currently exist that invalidate certain things. I'm pretty sure there are videos of all tank runs for every single ultimate. Does that mean DPS are equally as useless now? There is a video for a 6 man ucob run and one with a 130+ death run as well. I challenge you to create groups with no healers both now and in Dawntrail and be successful quickly. You might be able to get it done with enough time, but again it reiterates the point that you and your role are not useless. Stop selling yourself short.
