But this does not help with healer shortage.
Either role should be such that a sprout can pick it up and perform well
or
dps/tank player would be incentivized to switch.
For the latter no way around it, healer role must be made more diverse as right now its only one playstyle and if you don't like it you only play healer for social reasons.
By giving to the other roles so they can do the healing to the point you can exclude the healer if your party does really well?
Instead of just improving healer gameplay in all aspects?
Well, that is certainly a take. I would've seen this as the last resort kind of situation had they already tried buffing healers immensely in both dps / healing and condensing a bunch of their toolkit into a couple of simpler but more effective healing skills (like how tanks get a 25s cd with ridiculous amounts of mit) but those would then cost GCDs to activate to offset the DPS cost.
But nah, let's just make other roles stronger so healers can swap out to dps/tanks instead.
Well SE did not took this direction randomly. It was based on feedback and it was certainly not ours.
Idk if its healthy for the game if healing is made idiot proof so you put all weakest players here to press few buttons when needed and auto-win content. Since then only such players will play this role, it will be way too boring for better ones.
And you still need to do mechs so if weaker players are all in one role it will just result in new forms of toxicity.
If their complaint is that bad healers have a hard time healing, maybe they should ask how to get good players into playing the role.

I'll be blunt. If you design a job for stupids, you're naturally going to end up with mostly stupids within its playerbase. That's given & should not come off as a surprise: modern XIV healers are like that.

This is exactly how we got here in the first place.
I'll be blunt here. There is absolutely no way they can do this.
If someone plays a tank, they're probably looking to be a leader, a protector, there's no way to entice them to play a squishy job that supports people. Same for DPS, they probably want big numbers and low responsibility, there's no way to make them pick up a healer.
If they really want to boost healer numbers back up, they should start catering to people who want to play healer, not rework the entire role to try and lure people who aren't interested in healing.

They cannot heal stupid and backflipping/stepping dragoons/redmages/reapers that go over the edge with it just because they received a AoE marker.
Or players running away from everyone else with the stack marker.
