We complain about both. We had more dps back in SB and can get them back. I don't see why we shouldn't ask for it.When i see people complaining about Healer DPS Kit, i just think that they bark at the wrong tree.... They should be complaining at the fact they have less and less healing to do because of the imbalance caused by Tanks being OP and that they have lost all their buff except for some Mit based one.(making Tanks ever more OP)
They are never going to make healing intensive enough to make 1 button dps plus a DoT good.
I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

I would at this point be willing to compromise to just get Healer damage buffed up to the same level as what Tanks do. It would show that they at least pretend to care about the role and balance...

And then what?
We will be turned into a bad secondary DPS with heal potential?
That's not good, not good at all. there is no point in doing that.We will be even more irrevelant because we will be replaced by DPS in that case.
They need to rework the whole Tank-Healer relationship. They need to make DPS less sturdy and make their emergancy healing, real emergency healing and not almost self-sustain.
Wanting WHM DPS skills backs is one things that they could do.... But in case of SCH what will they do? They clearly don't want DoT anymore in this game (crappy SMN rework being a very blatant proof)....
Havig more DPS skills with the actual system will achieve nothing, in fact it will make things just worse.

What's easier? Give healers back tools they already had in the past or completely redesign the game? For me,the healer are not that bad.
It's the fact that Tanks are actually OP that make the whole system imbalanced and put healer in a position off being, in a lot of case, almost useless.
I never cared about Healer DPS skills, because for me thoses skills were only there to kill mobs in solo, while doing your quests.
For me, in group, a Healer job is to heal and buff and then DPS when they have time.

The actual system need almost a whole rework to make Healer revelant again.
It's not like I don't want more healing to do, I want both. The strike in general wants both.
Your comment also makes no sense to me... you say healers aren't bad, but are also useless?
I've said it before, but healers are well designed for content that doesn't exist in this game, so regardless of how "good" they are, they'll still be bad until content is changed (which won't happen) or change the jobs to accommodate their design (could happen)

Not sure how a thread which has been so active that it has never dropped off the first page can be construed as being necro-bumped. Anyways, thanks for your +1.
Goddess, that would be awesome. I want this issue to be so continuously "hot" that the devs have no choice but to address it. It's not like healers are asking for the Sun, Moon, and Stars. We just want our game play engaging and our contribution to the success of the party to be equal to the contribution of the other two roles.

And you're missing the point that WE CAN HAVE BOTH AND WE'RE ASKING FOR BOTH.And then what?

Do explain to me how you attempt to fix the issue that we have with boring down time - time spent not healing - that is filled with pressing 1 dps button and refreshing a DoT for most of it.
WoW has more intensive healing requirements and still more dps options than FFXIV healers do. If they can do both, we can have both.

It's actually an understandable habit for the HoTs to be timed just when the tank has all the enemy enmity / aggro established. I think in WoW, placing HoTs up just when a tank is pulling was usually asking to make the enemies turn to you instead as you described. FF14's old days used to punish it more heavily by multiplying the enmity of overhealing by maybe 5 - 8 times. So a person spamming Cure 2 on a tank at full health could theoretically yank enemy aggro off. The Lucid Dreaming MP regen used to cut all our enmity in half since there was always going to be a little overhealing when we do things right too.
Nowadays for FF14, it is as Rein said. Only buff enmity is generated right when you apply the HoT. The rest of the HoT enmity and overhealing multipliers are gone last I checked. You just need to make sure the HoT is applied before the initial pull or after the tank has hit everything with one AoE now.

At the end of the day, both aspects are in need to rectifying. There is not single magic fix that will right all issues healer role have. We can't really single out 1 issue without talking about another.
More redundant healing kits means there's bound to be more unused buttons so long they keep giving us more healing buttons.
More sustenance given to non healers means there's bound to be less healing required from actual healers.
Both of the aforementioned leads to more downtime for healers of which they have nothing else to fill but their 1 button spam because they're not allowed to have utilities/buff/etc especially if you're a WHM lol - this leads to boredom.
And so on...
All.of.these.needs.more.attention. No exception.
