Collective Unconscious in it's original form until the incredible buff AST got in 3.4 was a very weak channeled action relative to the throughput of simply casting e.g. Helios over and over. It was AST's version of both Sacred Soil and Asylum, depending on your sect, with the caveat that you had to maintain it by not moving at all.

The only time I found it useful until 3.4 (where the effects both existed and you were able to 'flash' it like so many actions from DNC to PLD) was when I was out of MP or when the boss was not attackable so my GCD economy didn't matter, with the one notable exception during Sephirot Extreme's knock-up from the Storm of Words to avoid his raid wipe: at the time, getting launched did not interrupt channelled effects so AST could apply Collective's regen though this mechanic when the party was otherwise unable to act. They later patched this, probably in 3.4, not that they ever used a similar mechanic in a tough boss to heal ever again.

Yeah I joined on patch 3.2, so I only had to deal with original CU for a couple of patches before its buff.

But gosh I miss stances in dungeons too. I loved swapping to Nocturnal after a pull, swiftcasting Stoneskin, applying Aspected Benefic, and then swapping back to Diurnal for the pull proper. All while keeping up the cards, it was a fun time for dungeon AST.

I have had plenty of healers in game not heal at all when they are supposed to. Like raid wides. Don't act like healer players are saints and go at DPS and Tanks like this. Healers may be dumbed down but clearly people still don't know what healing is and instead cast more glares. This strike is going no where if players who play the jobs can't even do basic functions as it is now.

Good. They (SE and players who cheers for their design trajectory) deserves all the flak.

I don't think anybody should be giving a 'surprise pikachu'-face when (a) Non-stupids are fed up to the point they either limit their exposure or swap role entirely; (b) A lot stupids are populating the role and making duties more miserable overall. What you've described is just one of the symptoms of 5-8 years (depending on where you draw the line) of designing the role around stupids.

I know! I've seen plenty of DPS in the game just not deal damage at all when they're supposed to because standing in the bad is easier than doing mechanics properly. And plenty of tanks in the game just not hold aggro at all when they're supposed to because it's easier to tank the floor than hitting a mitigation.

Like, seriously, there are bad players in every role. Why is it that only bad healers get blamed for everything?

why DPS should do mechanics properly and tanks hit mitigation?
After all they have a healbot... oups a healer to heal them.... And if they die, nope it's not their fault, it's because the healer didn't healed properly.

Nobody is saying healer players are saints. Nobody is saying no healers are ever bad. What we are saying is that the rest of them shouldn't be punished for those people. You could give some players a button saying "instant heal for 100000 potency" and they would still fail to cast it.

HOWEVER the same thing goes for every DPS and every tank. I could tell you about all the Paladins I've run into who only use their single target abilities in dungeons. Or the ice mages. Or the glamourai who literally managed to deal less damage than our White Mage. They have plenty of players who suck at their roles as well but somehow nobody is calling for them to be dumbed down. In fact, VPR losing its DoT caused a fairly sizeable uproar.

And you never thought maybe these players are dps or tank mains doing the role because they don’t wanna wait for healers or try it out so they can see why people complain. I had in pf so many atrocious healer players not healing or doing passable dmg it’s kinda sad. Like people say there is no healer strike but I argue waiting 3 hours for shield healers on a Wednesday for the m4s weekly kill and only doing the fight for 1 hour and having mostly the healer fail, tells a good enough story for me.
