WHM has the worst job gear I have ever seen it is even worst than dancerAssize, lilybells, temperance twinkle sparkle sound.... you get used to it tbh. WHM leans more on 'cutesy/childish' aesthetics, which just happens to fit female characters more often than not.
Job gear though? yeah, overtly feminine, you can't possibly say they're unisex and then have us dressed like this

Oh, I don't know. I like the level 50 stuff. As a long time fan of the original Final Fantasy game, I was proud to earn those robes. But, I agree. A lot of it is just bad.
That's the kind of thing I was thinking of. It really isn't difficult to show a healer being heroic in the same way we see tanks and damage dealers portrayed. I thought Square did a great job showing off Alphinaud as a sage in Endwalker's trailer. We just need to see Square make the leap to using the WoL instead of one of the Scions.I think some combination of the SCH throwing out attacks, throwing down Sacred Soil (bonus points if it 'blocks' a projectile, ie the projectile explodes on contact with the bubble, not the characters within), and the fairy darting to and fro to heal people, could work. I think the main thing they'd need to emphasize is the idea of 'SCH is a barrier healer, and when you play it 'well', you can literally negate enemy attacks'
Maybe some quick-cuts between close-ups of the WoL (shoulders down, not showing their face until the end to reveal 'oh the SCH was the WOL the whole time) where they're giving out orders/tactics for the other combatants to follow, and battlefield scenes where the other combatants are executing the orders given (and it's a very one-sided fight in their favour, because the WOL's tactical decisions are so on point) mixed in too

I honestly quite like the main body pieces of the WHM gear. DT’s set is the best full set yet. It has great brown leather accents to really hit the adventurer/explorer feel that a lot of the sets went with this expac. And the metal leaf headpiece is so nice, I wish I could use it on other classes.

That’s simple, healers are not a cool job, we don’t sell games, and will not be the poster character of an expansion either.
Imagine the warrior of light movie character trying to look cool in a white mage outfit and healing. Very few can think of that without laughing.
Healers are second row in priority, we are around because… because… umm… are we still needed to help people play anymore?
Which is kind of weird, if you think about it. After all, in the U.S., the most popular TV shows have revolved around doctors, nurses, paramedics, and fire fighters. So, why is it then such a leap to have the WoL portrayed as a healer?
Aren't all the people portrayed in these shows heroes for saving lives?
If Square Enix is embarrassed about how the gear would look on the WoL, couldn't they just design better looking gear? It seems like an obvious solution.
Yeah, and it sucks. I really wish Yoshi and the other devs would shake off their prejudices and view healers as equals to tanks and damage dealers.
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you find a game you enjoy.

I'm all for options, if WHM is the cutesy girly flower sparkle pretty princess. Fine you can have that CBU3.
But make Sage or Scholar have more neutral or masculine animations. Options are given to other roles, you want to look noble and with finesse GNB/PLD have that while with DRK/WAR have more savage unchained like animations that put a focus on how crude but powerful they are.
You can make feminine magical girl healers but you should also make focused tactical mages identity for people to attach themselves too. Part of what made me love SCH was the dichotomy of a warlock dark mage with a magical sparkly fairy, it was interesting to be someone who was casting multiple dots and using viruses and ruinous magic and void spells like shadowflare but also healing with something that looked like it would belong to a completely different class.

It's entirely possible to depict a 'healer' as the 'main character', and have them front and center in an expansion trailer. WOW managed it a few years ago
The 'elemental' side of WHM was, pardon the pun, very 'down to earth' and would fit well for an expansion trailer. SGE already IS in a trailer technically (Alphinaud), but you could write a trailer storyboard where the WOL is walking through some dangerous situation, with enemies to attack and allies to heal, and the nouliths are darting to and fro healing/attacking, while the WOL doesn't even need to react (they're just that practiced at using the nouliths). AST has Astral Stasis, the LB3, so that's the easiest 'big hype' moment setup imaginable.
Out of the 4 healers, SCH might be the hardest to show as 'cool'. They already had Expedient's visuals being an issue after all. It's definitely possible, but would take more design effort than the others. I'd say WHM is the best candidate, due to several factors, including 'ease of making look cool', 'none of the Scions currently main it', and 'its THE Final Fantasy Healer'

I don't know what is up with scholar's gear. There are a few good pieces, but I've seen plenty of academic bada**es in media and somehow the job gear fumbles it.

I agree. Whenever I make a scholar glam, I might grab one or two pieces of the job gear then have to switch out everything else to look like an adventurer. Who the hell wears a mortarboard outside of graduation?

edit: the 'reveal' shot can be that a projectile 'hits' the SCH, and when the smoke clears, the hexagons from an Adlo fall to the floor as if they are solid objects (like panes of glass) and we see 'oh it was the WOL and he Adlo'd himself in the nick of time'. Also, ideally the WOL has like, zero reaction to the projectile/explosion, because we're emphasizing the 'tactical mastery' element of SCH, and so 'the enemy tried to attack the healer' is a variable the WOL had already considered and factored into the strategy. It was 'all according to keikaku', as they say
