Well, now look at that same raidwide spam now that we have some gear. Even with the 710 gear from NM/Crafted, it was instantly neutered, and with people getting more and more capped tome gear, it's going to get weaker and weaker. And this was 100% predictable, because it's happened every expansion, yet somehow there were calls of 'nah see this time will be different'. Surprise, it wasn't different
And they are not going to make expert dungeons suddenly do crazy amounts of damage either because not only will the playerbase rebuke that in spades but it doesn't make much sense to make casual content that much more difficult. People (including vets) already despise something like Strayburough Deadwalk. I have yet to hear anyone say they enjoy the first boss there much less asking for it to do even MORE damage.

Errrhmmm..... how about the fun starts at normal. Normal is not some kind of disease. It should be fun and have challenges. Also normal does not mean Lobotomized.
But still no talk or explantion for the state of healing. For that reason BUMB!

The case of level 60 dungeons not needing healers is more a symptom of ilvl caps/more HP from accessories and general potency buffs of baseline actions over the years to be fair. There's the occasional job like WAR having access to the drastically different and empowered Raw Intuition at that level, but by and large it'd be closer to HW if they didn't let player's power run as unchecked by putting on tighter gear restriction, removing direct hit functionality until 61 and having one of those level 84/94 traits that increases all your basic action potencies for every job once per expansion level range.

It'd also help solve the problem of too trivial battle content for new players in perpetuity somewhat.

I'll respectfully disagree here. The problem was that any damage except for a stack marker was completely avoidable. Even with minimum item lvl you could have dodged every other instance of damage.
I know that ilvl will always trivialise low lvl dungeons to a degree but I still think you could add more forced hits or raidwides to counter the problem at least a little bit, even if it means healers having to hardcast their (aoe) heal a bit more often at those levels.
The individual hits don't need to be hard so new healers could still fix them easily. But the accumulated damage of several raidwides/forced hits should endanger a party at some point if the damage isn't taken care of.

Just want to chime in that over my time progging savage on pf these last 3 weeks, all parties struggle to find healers or the occasional physical ranged dps. With the exception of parties started by healer duos (three in this last week strangely enough). I feel I am being baited every time someone on the team asks “so healers really are scarce huh?” and someone mentions healer strike. I know people love to come in here to say their same bit of “so is the healer strike real and working? I still see them and my queue is blah blah blah” Yes, it seems to be effecting my time more than previous expansions, maybe because when I’m in these parties I’m not switching to healer to make it fill faster anymore. I hope this reaches 1k pages and I hope it is noticed by then by devs

Speaking as a life long WHM, playing since 2.0.

Healers have been demoralized over the last two expansions with back to back gut punches of “we are not needed” because of healerless clears of dungeons and savage.

So where are the healers? Some quit, some joined statics who make them feel welcome and others are on a break due to real life issues. I’m on the real life break due to having my baby boy so I am super casual at best.

Personally, I always preferred statics vs party finders. While it’s true that there are some good PFs out there, I always went with a static because it’s a more caring environment that is more tolerant of my mistakes.

I don’t have a perfect memory or lightning reflexes so it takes me time to learn a fight and many PFs don’t like or accept that. I have found that quite a few PFs are get gud or get lost.

I know that some healers are not as caring as others but many are, and that is why we are healers and not DPS. By its very nature, PFs in general do not lend itself to being nice, it’s more competitive and harsh.

For me, it’s just not my thing.

P.S. These are my opinions & feelings and are not meant to represent the healer community as a whole.

so I've got a question for all the other former Healer mains who went to tank.
I'm trying to decide on my tank main, and it's a lot harder to decide than I thought.
I like the mitigation of one, but not the damage rotation. For another it's the exact opposite. I like the rotation, but not the mitigation. It's not even about how effective the mitigation or the damage is. It's just purely based on feel.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? do you learn to overlook one aspect over time?
Should I just play warrior and stop thinking about things (even mechanics)?

It wasn't this hard choosing a healer main. I like using a book as a weapon, and the gameplay of combining your skills to prevent damage before it happens, so Scholar's the one for me. (before level 70 where you get Excog, and use pretty much nothing else outside of savage)

I think that part of the issue here, is the homogenization of the tank rotations. For example, back in SB we had PLD with 'maintain Goring Blade on enemy', WAR as 'the 2min meta before the 2min meta existed' (until they reworked it so you got your burst for free), and DRK was 'speed freak john madden with some MP management'. Now, every tank (thanks to DT) has 'press this button to activate burst, then this other button 3 times (4 as PLD) in a row'. It was fine when PLD introduced it with Req in 4.0, it was ok when WAR coopted it for the IR rework in 4.2, but now DRK has Delerium and GNB had/has Bloodfest (allowing 3x Burst Strike, now allowing Lionheart combo too), so all the 'rotations' can feel a bit samey

As for mitigation, the only one that truly feels 'different' to me is DRK because it's got a 15s CD on TBN instead of everyone else's 25s, TBN has an inherent risk to it (if it doesnt pop GG part of your damage), and Dark Mind is occasionally completely 'dead' as a button because the boss doesn't use Physical damage enough.

When I play Tank now it's GNB. Partially because I miss the speed of SB DRK, partially because I started the series with FF8
