Are they actually refusing to heal or are they just bad at it? Because I see a lot of bad healers, yet I've never once encountered one who straight up refused.Just wanted to post that people are refusing to heal and tanks won't voke when I'm tanking. I admit I'm not that good but I try to mitigate as best as I can and it's getting really annoying when I'm trying to get the mounts. I feel like I'm being blocked or people are gatekeeping certain classes at this point so I'm verry much fed up with this healer strike. FYI I have played the healer classes and at no point have I said welp I'm going to que for it and just dps.

I don’t understand.
Folks are just not playing a role that they no longer find fun. Now you’re left with the bads (mostly) & suddenly fed up with the healerstrike? If any, it just put more spotlights on the bad apples of the role now that more and more veterans are jumping ship. But suddenly it’s the veteran’s fault?![]()
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

Pretty sure the reason there are so many bad healers now is because they see the countless posts about ‘healer dps’ ‘healers can’t ever heal’ ‘dps is all they can ever have’ ‘it’s all oGCD heals’ ‘never use a gcd or you will be kicked blacklisted banned’, completely misunderstand what it actually means and that people are talking about design philosophy and not literal practice, then go into playing healer thinking they literally do not need to use a single healing spell or ability the entire fight so long as they maintain acceptable dps uptime. I mean, look how angry so many healers get at the idea of having to use an actual gcd spell…

It's crazy, isn't it? Players have to understand it's okay to use their gcd heals too. They may lose the damage from one glare or two; but, a healer is there to keep the party alive. So, if they don't have any ogcd heals, and the tank's health is dipping dangerously low, cast the damn Cure IIs already!Pretty sure the reason there are so many bad healers now is because they see the countless posts about ‘healer dps’ ‘healers can’t ever heal’ ‘dps is all they can ever have’ ‘it’s all oGCD heals’ ‘never use a gcd or you will be kicked blacklisted banned’, completely misunderstand what it actually means and that people are talking about design philosophy and not literal practice, then go into playing healer thinking they literally do not need to use a single healing spell or ability the entire fight so long as they maintain acceptable dps uptime. Only the most clueless individual will attempt to kick them for it, and if they are kicked, so what? They'll get another group in less than 5 minutes.
I'd say most bad players don't even know the forum exists, let alone reads what's here.

Who’s to say it’s just the forum? People’s attitudes and discussions around healers mostly follow the same route regardless of whether they’re here, on Reddit, X or whatever else in my entirely anecdotal experience. Cursed Facebook maybe lol.

I mean, it’s basically just an unfortunate game of ‘Chinese whispers’ that’s went from ‘healers need more dps/variety because of how encounters work’ all the way downhill to ‘healers literally don’t need to heal’. It’s probably compounded by all the talk of tanks being ‘invincible super healers’; which, I mean, they basically are lol. But by the time that filters down, the added caveat of ‘when played properly/with appropriate gear/etc’. End result being a certain group of people queuing as healer thinking the tank is griefing them for asking for healing lol. It's crazy, isn't it? And, I’m not suggesting it’s a specific thing like ‘omg healer strike did this’ lol, it’s been a thing of varying magnitudes throughout the game’s history. Whether it’s healers refusing to gcd heal in current times or healers refusing to turn on/off cleric stance in ARR (yes Lustrate is % based but that doesn’t help if you have no Aetherflow lol). And frankly I think SE ‘fixing healing’ and basically making it less of a joke is the only way they’ll really resolve it.
So long as the healer role has as many issues as as it does, it’s always going to end up attracting people with a completely distorted view of what healer is and how those issues actually relate to the role in a wider context
Blocked or you missed the last couple of pages of the thread, could be either one.
it/its - 14 accessibility is bad, ease of access is not accessibility, jobs are boring. Transphobia ruins real attempts at criticism and it's whack.
