Because God knows, posters on the Final Fantasy XIV Official English Forums would *never* want to come across as "pushy" or "arrogant."

Why are you being so antagonistic? Either offer support or don't. People have tried in the past to get in touch with JP forums. I particularly don't want to use AI to translate something that could be misconstrued. I've heard the JP community would rather EN people reach out to a JP user that'd be able to help with translation. But, it's not so easy getting hold of someone that's a bilingual healer main, willing to translate thousands of words. Well, I don't know anyone that fits that criteria, so the next best thing is to show support for eachother, to make it clear that none one of us feel alone in our frustrations. It doesn't help when other players come along, who either don't play or care about healer, and question our motives and methods.

Not attacking, but, it's just frustrating when we're facing dismissal from the devs, and also from fellow Warriors of Light.

I find it interesting that someone suggesting an additional option to getting feedback heard is getting more pushback in this thread than any of the people who are against the current sentiment in general.

I've been accused of trolling, and had aspersions cast on my motivations because I....suggested opening a dialogue with the side of the forum that the devs actually pay attention to?

because that has been tried, cupcake. you're coming in here like you think we haven't tried that, which really makes you LOOK like a troll.

because guess what? the issues are old enough to where, yes, posting on the japanese side of the forums has been tried.

in 8 years, we've tried basically every avenue short of flying to Kyoto and camping on SQEX headquarters' lawn.

I posted a thread a few pages back where there was genuine discussion between a (single) western poster and several Japanese posters, where quite a few agreed with the western view on healing. Then the OP stopped posting, and the thread died 5 pages or so later.

I'm not suggesting one person take on the Japanese fan base, I'm saying that you all, collectively, should open an ongoing dialogue. I've scoured the Japanese forums, and all I've found on this topic is individual posters coming in, leaving a few comments, and then abandoning the thread. Show that this is a community issue, not just individuals mad at the current state of things.

Just a thought, but I wonder if mass healer strikes in higher content would force them to rethink things? I mean, they clearly only really care about raids anyway (‘if you want to have fun as a healer just do ultimate’), and I remember Yoshi really wanted FFXIV to get into the esports scene at one point. Maybe if people literally stopped doing things like Savage / Ultimate world first clears, the devs would finally be forced to accept how deeply unsatisfied most players are with healers.

That said, I wouldn’t expect something like that to actually happen, if not just because it’s pretty unfair to essentially punish world firsters / raiders for Yoshi-P’s negligence over healers. But still, I bet if the community tried to do their ‘world first clear’ thing and couldn’t get enough healers to actually do the content, the devs wouldn’t have a choice but to listen. But that’s like 1 part tinfoil hat theory and 1 part copium lol

What I'm saying is that, you all have been trying to make yourself heard in the wrong place. While I'm sure there are a few exceptions, the devs don't look to the English forums for feedback. After years of trying and failing to get their attention, you all need to try something else.

The problem is, the Japanese player base seems content with how things are. *They* are the people you need to convince, because the devs actually listen to them. That's why I think this strike is, in the end, meaningless. Even if everyone who has, is, and will post on this thread got 10 people to agree to strike, it still won't make a dent in queue times. In the end, the strike is performative, especially as most of you are still subscribed.

If people decide they want to withhold contributing to the game in some way, that's up to them. An action to get a development change like this would require an effort from players on all servers all together, it's not going to happen without massive organization. I agree w this action, I'm willing to offer support to assist in coordinating efforts outside NA data centers if an effort will be made.

SCH was my favorite class from ARR through SB, but I stopped playing it entirely (as well as AST and WHM) during ShB. If it weren't for wanting to try out the SMN rework in EW (and being hugely disappointed by it), I wouldn't have a single level 90 healer on my account. No need to dig into details, since they've been said a million times before by others.

I won't be buying DT, but hopefully things get better for all of you folks sticking it out.

I don’t think that’s helped, because we did see a healer drought in savage during EW and look where that got us. I think it needs to become a major roadblock for the average player trying to do their normal content. Remembered Raubahn EX? Some thing like that would force a response. Not, as has been said before, the likelihood that the outcome will have that effect is low, but the point is more to grab attention and get people—especially big names in the FFXIV community talking about these problems. We’ve already seen people coming out of the woodwork here to show their support: lurkers who never post on the forums. That will happen as well if people who don’t even care about the forums or Reddit start hearing this too.

I feel like this is something that EN should focus on because our feedback should be no more or less important than JP and there is a million and one ways they can make both sides happy

I agree that it is an unfair situation. I'm just trying to work with how things currently are. And, as it stands, the devs don't seem to pay much attention to the Western side of things outside of content creators and concerts.
