That was supposed to be another way to show casual player how the healer role is important in endgame content.

I'm not one of the strikers with the big complaints. Most of those I play with need healers and not just green DPS. While I have some agreement with a few of the striker concerns, most I don't.

But I'm curious to see how things are turning out for those who were making the claims that healers aren't needed and are striking because of it. Are all their parties getting by without healers as they claim they can?

Yep and that is why ARR SCH is what healers should be, yes with all those dots. You got some healing tools and mitigation, but your actual job is still dealing damage.

I don't think every healer strictly needs a DoT, SCH should have their DoTs returned, but every other healer could have a different system instead.

Like WHM could have Osmose, every tick after application will generate a stack of 'Elemental Frenzy', at 5 stacks, you proc a random elemental empowered attack, Quake, Flood or Tornado. So you can spend it every 15s or wait for an extra proc for the burst window but risk losing the proc if it procs something you already have.

AST could have Combust changed into a compilation effect and Stella is returned as a detonator. Cards could also affect the detonation effect, so you'd detonate earlier or delay it for a better effect.

There's many different ways to do it aside from "every healer gets 3 DoTs", they just have to be creative about it.

True as it needs to be a debuff that gives you a gameplay reward. To be honest, I wish all dots just came with blm's thundercloud trait baked in. As that provides at least some neuron activation.

When the DoT is uniquely instant cast or has other situational value, the DoTs themselves do that, arguably more so than when a random proc is involved...

When you have something like Thundercloud and no finnicky window (at a length equal to a very high portion of its duration) against which it competes, thought gets limited simply to whack-a-mole (hitting it when it glows), a la Refulgent Arrow. However, without that RNG, there is far more choiceful uptime contribution worth considering.

I've said it before in this giant mess of pages. Both casuals and elitists are united on this one. Healers suck. Sure, there are defenders of this... design choice, but there are also defenders of Wuk Lamat and the MSQ, and she's just as bad as the healers this expansion.

That feeling when a forum post about DT difficulty is catching the rounds of CC but a thread that had a news outlet mention it barely made a splash outside of mocking the strike.

It is a feels bad moment.

Edit: Not to throw shade or anything just seems like for the most part people are at worst neutral towards healers in their current state. Which is a shame since I doubt anything will come of this because for what it seems people really don't seem to care. Which does suck.
