I think the major problem with the Healer Strike is whether or not the claims are valid or not (I personally agree with most if not all of them), the perception by the broader community is just so negative it seems its insane. The idea that people who are upset won't renew their sub just appears to the average person as "Okay they don't like something and won't engage with it. What is the big deal?"

It's the same thing as this thread really. Different people are upset about different things and want different solutions to the problems they see. Four "leaders" of the movement gave four different takes from four different levels of experience and backgrounds. But anyone who dares suggest that the goalposts are moving is met with "YoU dIDn'T rEaD tHe pOsT". Gcbtw.

Why is it difficult to accept there are multiple issues with healers. And the issues individual people focus on are what is most important for getting their own enjoyment out of the game. From what I've seen people supporting the strike have been quite open about that.

And the last time I've seen a reaction to someone claiming the strike is moving goalposts was my own. And that was very very very far from what you're claiming. That was against someone that argued that the strike couldn't be a success if it didn't disrupt the game. And the idea that the strike has to disrupt the game has mostly been promoted by people opposing the strike. If you look through the whole thread I am sure you can find 1 or 2 people who support the strike and also think it has to disrupt the game, but that was certainly not a consensus. So disagreeing with that, is not moving goalposts.

Dawg half the conversation in this thread at this point boil down to "I don't agree with this, here's my perspective" followed by a dog pile of "Irrelevant. Uninformed. Read the OP." It's tiring. It's not possible to have a discussion about a dissenting opinion because it rapidly degrades into goalpost moving. Call it whatever you want to.

The state of healers is what it is because it is exactly what the community asked for. Being mad about those consequences makes me roll my eyes. I look forward to being again told that that's irrelevant or off-topic.

I dunno. I think healers going on strike is kinda dumb, mostly because it won't achieve anything, but their actual takes were fairly reasonable.

Xiv's toxic underbelly showing itself. I think the terminology is polarizing in itself, and people have latched on to the stupidest part of strawmans.

It's wild how true this is, even outside of the context of this thread.

I've often voiced general critiques about Xiv as , I love the game, concept, etc etc and genuinely just wish it to be better than the best MMO on the market. And having played pretty much every modern mmo, it gives insight as to what Xiv really does well in, and what it really drops the ball with. A common point is gameplay and class identity/class depth. Once, I mentioned a generic critique like "Bard/Dnc really should be more than 12[proc fish] as a gameplay loop. They should really lean more into step/technical step as a class fantasy because I think it could create far more exciting gameplay moments in-between 1-2 spam. Maybe unique effects depending on the order of steps input similar to ninja, that showcases actual choreography." For most normal people that have a normal relationship with XIV, they either agree or disagree, and usually theres some discussion. With what feels like most XIV fans however, they take it as if I personally insulted their mother and its just so abnormal.

This ties into this thread because THIS thread is bringing in people that don't care or think its stupid (valid), but then some decide to try and derail or be antagonistic with stupid comments like "Touch grass" as if they're not spending 13$/m themself to watch pixels move around for a few hours a day . Its just a hobby that I, and many people are passionate about. And just like we are commenting healers feel awful, I too would agree/disagree about a topic and acknowledge someone going and making a thread over a general consensus like "Hey, SMN feels really bad atm because of xyz" , or just not interact, like a normal person would because this is the game ALL of us play together, for better or for worse.

Not stick my head into the sand and scream "You're stupid, this is stupid, FFXIV can do no wrong, its the perfect game, this statement is fact, not opinion." Or the more common response:

"Well... ty for the fast ques!" As if the heavy majority of these people commenting this were playing healer with any consistently beyond switching for a friend or to cap tomes.
