Look, everyone, it's all explained here, we just didn't read it correctly: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/jobguide/battle/ I quote:
So now that there are no wounded companions and our help with mitigation is not needed, our job is quite obvious - start spamming Esuna and revive, they have even reduced the cooldown on Swiftcast to make that easier!!Code:Healers use restorative arts to mend wounded companions. They can also help to mitigate damage, remove detrimental effects, and even bring fallen allies back to life.
Jokes aside, casual looking for a non-healer job to main in DT, hit me up with suggestions, thanks in advance![]()

I went for Dancer because the proc-based rotation is scratching the itch of semi-randomness I'm used from Astrologian. I'm having a blast and I'll be raiding as DNC in Dawntrail.Look, everyone, it's all explained here, we just didn't read it correctly: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/jobguide/battle/ I quote:

DNC - easy and fun proc-based job with healing support
BRD - dots
RPR - easy to pick up and looks cool, some heal support
VPR - a fun but more advanced playstyle, no healing support
RDM - heal and raise support with good mobility
WAR - easy all-rounder

Thank you for the suggestions, looks like Dancer is the way forwardand Warrior is "backup" option if I want to try tanking.
I am sorry, I do not know you and I might be misreading it, but this sounds like a "guilt-trip" towards healers... We are all paying and playing to have fun, right? I already have my real-life job to do what I am supposed to do whether I enjoy it or not, so thanks, but no thanks - I prefer having fun, I can group up with friends/FC instead of waiting for randoms![]()
Thank you for asking me to clarify instead of just assuming! So that was intended to be lightly sarcastic... There is nothing enjoyable about having to wait to play the game the way you want to play it. There is nothing enjoyable about playing a job you don't like.I am sorry, I do not know you and I might be misreading it, but this sounds like a "guilt-trip" towards healers... If you're not enjoying the game, by all means change jobs! Just know that this void you're leaving behind is one of the most sought-after jobs in the game. Everyone needs a healer to queue. There just aren't any competent healers left in the game anymore. If you have a way to queue without reaching out to a random healer through DF then good for you, but others joining this cause might not have that support. So I mean, it's literally a "pick your poison" situation for them. Play a job you don't like or have to sit in queue with 172,634 other DPS (IDK I made up that number) who also changed jobs.

At least there's enough side content I enjoy playing that I can do during periods I'm waiting on the queues, whereas fast queues only matter if I like doing the content - and that's questionable with current healer designs. Like the old adage, 'no D&D is better than bad D&D', the same is true here.Thank you for asking me to clarify instead of just assuming! So that was intended to be lightly sarcastic... #healerstrike

I was definitely one of those who assumed the worse right off the bat, apologies for that. But then why would you add this to your first post?Thank you for asking me to clarify instead of just assuming! So that was intended to be lightly sarcastic... Truly, I did interpret that as gatekeeping feedbacks for no good reason.

Thanks for the clarification! I will also add a little bit about my personal interest in this (I joined the forums because of it, lol) - I have been a healer main for the past ±15 years in multiple MMOs. My play style is simple: smashing healing buttons, especially HoTs, but I digress! I do not want to name other games as I am not sure whether talking about them is okay on these forums. What I liked about FFXIV is the lack of pressure to have to login every day for many hours and do content I dislike just to farm gear, which will let me do something I enjoy afterwards. I knew healers work differently in FFXIV, compared to other MMOs - you are required to do damage and healing is either reactive or somewhat proactive/pre-shielding or pre-casting mitigation spells for certain mechanics. If you're not enjoying the game, by all means change jobs! So I tried Sage in EW, after losing interest in White Mage - what was supposed to be a "green DPS" - and I was surprised to see that I have a worse DPS rotation than in other MMOs, where damage-dealing is optional, unless you are the 1% of the population running the hardest content in the game. I can give you an example from such game in a DM (again, not sure if I can talk about other games freely here) with a 8-9 spell rotation, which include multiple DoTs, using mana as a resource, then shapeshifting (which also changes your 1st hotbar) to use spells with a different resource (not mana), half of which generate combo points and the other half consume the combo points as finishers... It's hard to even compare this to E.Dosis/E.Dyskrasia every 30 secs, Phlegma + Psyche in burst windows and Dosis/Dyskrasia spam... and healing is almost entirely oGCDs, i.e. click and forget, compared to casting HoTs (on GCD), then combo-ing other spells with them, again on GCD...
I still enjoy FFXIV, I will just try being a pure DPS (or maybe tank) for now, otherwise I feel I am misusing the small amount of time I have to play the game doing something I don't enjoy. If my choice increases queue time - it's the developer's problem. FFXIV made it easy for everyone to switch jobs, so others can step in, as you have also graciously offered, so the void will eventually be filled by other players, no need to panic![]()
