Well don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just saying nothing will change as the devs have been very clear on the direction they want healers to go. I didn’t say I agree with it but I’ve come to accept it.Oh, we're supposed to mostly heal? So why is it that in any fight, from dungeon to ultimate, 90%+ of our casts purely damage? Why is most of our healing designed to be covered by tanks or dps self sustain, with only the occasional spot of raidwide damage to think about in the literal hardest fights in the game?
The expansion when healers got gutted. Sch lots all its dots, Astro lost their card variety, Whm lost aero 3. Shadowbringers screwed healers big time.I would love to know what expansion this was for. I have been a healer main since I started. I will dps if there is nothing too be healed but I am a healer main to heal. its never been my desire to be a green dps.
so please, point out when this was that Yoshi and team stated this multiple times because in my experience in this game... that has never been the case.
First of all, only a relatively small proportion of the players even do savage content. Secondly, wait for the "trickle" has been going on for years. So I find it understandable that a number of healers are rather more impatient to see more substantial, more rapid, and more transparent plans for job identity changes.Healing changes don't bother me as long as Savage/Ultimates and savage crits reflect the tools on hand and availability. I would like another dps tool or two for weave or engagement, but I'd prefer if difficulty and challenge got put into encounter design first and then trickle out to job identity stuff personally.
My bet is on the latter. The average XIV player nowadays is basically just a job tourist, so they will try out whatever the new flashy jobs are, which happen to be two dps.You and others love to say the forum is a miniscule amount of the playerbase. Do we know for sure how many players outside of the forum also are quitting the healer role entirely and are choosing to clog the other role queues while being complete unaware of whats happening here?
We don't, you don't either, so don't try and pretend that everyone outside of the forums is happy.
Of course you will have some Sylphies who have always been cure bots and will always be cure bots, but that just means on top of long queues you will then probably also have an awful dungeon experience because despite being "healers only heal"-mains, Sylphies aren't exactly known to be good at their job.
I said it before and I'll say it again, Shadowbringers screwed everyone big time, most just didn't realize it. It was the expansion that started this entire atrocious new job and combat design direction, Endwalker just doubled down on it.

I think it’s great but more than likely nothing is gonna happen. They destroyed healers in Shadowbringers. No changes in Endwalker and going into Dawntrail still the same. Unless the new encounters brings healing up significantly then it will be the same stuff as is now.Heal what exactly? There's not a lot of incoming damage in most content in the game. Sure, there are rare exceptions like Tower of Zot, Holminster Switch, the occasional Extreme, Savage, and Ultimate fight. But incoming damage is rather low for most content of the game. If anything, this movement is uniting two groups of healer players: those that want to heal more and those that want more DPS / Support abilities. The Role didn't offer much in EW in terms of gameplay and Dawntrail isn't looking good either as Xeno proved you can clear a DT dungeon without a healer in the media tour.
I'll finally respond to this comment in particular.
The official forums is not the tool being used to reach the dev team. These efforts have already failed over the course of many years. It would be futile to try to reach out to them further in this regard. Instead, the forums are being used to rally those into the #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE protest, which isn't taking place on the forums; it's taking place in the actual game. In this manner, it has worked quite well... or at least we will see when the strike is officially underway at the expansion launch in July.
If enough healers actually do leave group content to the point that it affects American/EU/AU servers, the Japanese community wouldn't even be needed but it would also be the best way to get their attention. Again though, it isn't very pragmatic to expect drastic changes to take place immediately, or even in the near future. The main purpose of all this is to let healer mains know that they do matter, because the direction the game has went has made them feel redundant. Anyone who has at least one good bone in their body know this treatment is not right or ok.

Joke aside.
Imo Tanks shouldn't be able to heal themselves to the degree that they can rely on themselves to stay alive.
Tanks should mitigate damage so they can tank multiple enemies while having the healer back them up with the heals.
And since it's pretty much impossible for a tank to lose aggro the DPS will more or less never take damage, except from AoEs which most of the times barely make a dent, which pretty much only give the healers 1 target to focus their heals on during a fight.
And if that 1 person can manage without the healers heals, something wrong.
Maybe enemies in dungeons needs to be hitting for a lot harder, make the tanks HP bar move.

Ok, where was I rude? Pretty sure I've seen you saying the forum is a minority before.
Your question was also formulated in a very short way, should I be able to tell your tone from that? You're asking a question in a way that could be interpreted in a condescending manner in a thread where many people have given condescending replies.
My response was hardly rude considering the circumstances. Was I short? Yes. Rude? Hardly.
Edit: Also, you were so fixated on my apparent "rudeness" that you didn't see that I answered your question. There's no way to know for sure how many people will participate. There could be way more outside of the forums that will participate, there might not, we have no way of knowing until we see the effects (or lack thereof).

I honestly use Scholar out of habit more than anything else (yes, I am one of the psychopaths that done MSQ as a Scholar in both Shadowbringers and Endwalker lol), so chances are I’ll probably still do the same in Dawntrail.
That said, I fully support anyone able to commit to striking. Because while I’ll play Scholar by god there is so little to enjoy. And even that is shrinking! You can’t even enjoy just the aesthetics anymore since your character will get replaced with a chicken-wing-ass nun lady every 120 seconds or w/e for Seraphism.
I am in my deathbed being kept alive by heavy amounts of copium. And it gets a new DoT ability… on a 120 second cool-down?! *flatlines*
