    Consider there are many healer mains (and non-healer mains) that enjoy playing healer the way it is currently designed. Their opinions on the game hold equal weight too. I do not believe major healer changes should be applied to all healers. At most, half of them. The new Astro would've been a good time to test a more complicated dps rotation while also reducing its healing OGCDs. To incentivize playing that new type of healer, perhaps increase their relative dps output under good play and/or optimal conditions.

    Ironically Ast is the one healer where I think its many oGCDs make a lot of sense because of their time magic identity.

    It's not super fleshed out but there is still some risk-reward gameplay (at least in unfamiliar content) of having to predict incoming damage correctly (which is also in line with its role fantasy of somebody who foresees the future).
    If you mess up and you waste your oCGDs you just threw one of your tools into the bin.

    I know that once a fight is known all of this becomes a lot more predictable and probably loses its appeal but at least when content is fresh and new their oGCDs are a lot of fun to me.
    In principle I think this is not the worst way to use oGCDs.

    Vengeance without mitigation, Holmgang without invuln, Inner Beast without mitigation in place of triple healing, Thrill of Battle not healing the max HP increase, Foresight existing.

    I'm sure you mean 2.1 where all of this was fixed... minus Foresight that is.

    There's something ironic about calling us "half-assed" while not even bothering to type out "really."

    The topic has already been discussed to death but I actually like FFXIV and wish to continue playing it. I do not want to continue playing as a healer specifically so I'm just not going to.

    I love how the argument is now becoming "but if you don't play a role you're dissatisfied with it ruins everyone else's game!"

    Why should we play a role we're dissatisfied with?

    That's the essence of this "strike." People are making this out to be us wanting to intentionally hurt the community. This isn't true. We're just collectively refusing to settle for a boring, mediocre job when it could be so much better, and are hoping (probably against hope to be honest) that the attention this movement gets will make devs think more about getting us back into a legitimate healing role.

    We actively want to play healers. The problem is that that's not what we've been doing for years now. We're playing DPS roles (with both the lowest DPS and the most boring "rotations") that also have massive healing ability that just flat-out isn't being used. This is verifiable across all levels of content and the receipts have been posted throughout this thread. And we don't like it, so we're not going to do it anymore.

    It is Square Enix that's "hurting" the game - and by extension, you - by making the healing role not revolve around healing. Not us.

    I cannot for the life of me understand how any of you can justify the current healer situation. If healers are not meant to focus on healing, then why have healing jobs at all?

    I get that you non-healer-mains are upset that this is getting attention, and that Square Enix's design philosophy towards healers has pushed us to the point of taking an action that can have negative repercussions for you. But you do not get to decide for us. We are not your monkeys, and the fact that healers are subject to this sort of attitude in the first place shows how devalued the healer role has become in this game.

    I watched it... And everyone is conviently glossing over that there was a Red Mage, who's dual casting vercure potency has ALWAYS been op since it released. And they were playing MONTHS OLD test build.... NOTHING in that dungeon potency wise may be that way come launch, its likely those dungeon mobs could be adjusted and hit harder.
    While I agree that healer kits need adjustment for more dps, this weeping and gnashing of teeth is going to accomplish nothing. Why? There are far more ALL AROUNDERS who play EVERYTHING and have 3 main jobs that will happily step up and fill in any "striking" healer. Not to mention enough people will be competent enough to pick up healer jobs and learn them, coupled with the Trust system, sorry guys your healer strike will DO NOTHING. Once you leave out of this forum and go into other areas where FFXIV is discussed INCLUDING IN GAME, the vast majority of healers are not going to strike at all.

    What I truly don't understand is people being so insistent on telling these healers that what they are trying won't achieve anything. It's honestly comical. Why? Why do you feel the need to come in here and say this? How does a small portion of healers qutting playing affect you? It probably doesn't right so why bother to bother them? They have been ignored for YEARS and they've had enough, let them try something new, see if it works. If it does great! If it doesn't? Well at least they tried something and it'll be clear the devs don't care because there's no way they haven't heard about it. Just leave these people be.

    maybe because there are multiple posts on this forum overcrowding other things people want to discuss in the excitement of the new expansion. I mean they are railing before the game even drops based on a MONTHS OLD TEST BUILD DUNGEON. Things very well could be changed and there will be withing a couple weeks the .01 patch which almost ALWAYS brings massive adjustments to skills and potencies for balancing sake.
