see this person gets it!!1I find it ridiculous that people can invest so much time and energy for a "healer strike" in FFXIV. Why not wait until the actual content for the new healers is out so you can judge them in the environment they were made for?
Y'all could have used that time spent protesting for something important like Palestine instead. Just saying.
No, he doesn't. He's naive at best and disingenuous at worst. Again, I'm not getting into it in depth here but suffice to say none of us have the power to meaningfully influence government decision making. Sorry, we're not rich enough to buy a senator.
Not surprising. He has a habit of looking down on players with any different opinions than him and has a very “you think you want it, but you don’t” attitude with basically anything he doesn’t like. “I don’t like it, therefore you don’t really want it.”Well good news, Mr. Happy called the healer strike is the dumbest thing he's ever seen. https://youtu.be/v1pheogEplw?t=379
You mean like the healers in this thread are doing?
It's a dungeon, the easiest content in the game, and it's Warrior, a job that has literally always been able to do that. I highly value WAR's ability to not care about the rest of the party in dungeons. I have to spam dungeon roulettes for tomes and dungeons are home to the worst of the worst players this game has to offer. I will take WAR and I will do my WAR thing and ignore my party completely, I never want to go back to the days where a dungeon takes 40+ min and the healer throws a fit cause I do full pulls. This strike is stupid, your position as healer will matter still in the 99% of dungeon runs that don't have a chad WAR sustaining themselves, and it still matters in Extremes/Unreals/Savage/Ultimate/Alliance/Criterion/literally every piece of content. If this "strike" actually makes a noticeable affect on queues (unlikely), thanks for the instant healer queues since SCH is one of the first jobs I'm leveling.
Xeno posted his take on the thread and has very good takes and objective look:
- He knows content is balanced around extreme/savage/ultimate
- He agrees there's no middle ground
- He agrees 1 button spam is awful and boring
Unlike MrHappy, he actually provided good, well articulated insight rather than straight up dismissing it. It's funny how the bald man has given better objectivity than most content creators.
I think it's important to remember the point of the "strike" is to call YoshiP's attention to the issues. 5 years and "healer feedback" threads have been ignored, and a "healer strike" has a catchy tag to it, which amplifies the problem even more. The strike doesn't have to work, it's just to make the devs aware they need to start looking into it, starting by maybe improving the encounter design and/or making healer DPS a bit more enganging (since that's the direction they're taking)
I already quit the game for over a year. Missed most of EW. Came back a few months ago because I wanted to play the game again and try Jobs like BRD and MNK, which I like.Hey it's me, the bogeyman of the forums again. Just wanted to say again that if you haven't been happy for years and years, you should probably unsub. Maybe the game just isn't for you anymore. When the game is no longer for me, I'm going to unsub too like a normal person instead of whatever all this is. Thanks, have a great day!
I’ve been aware of the healer issues since 5.0 (started in 4.05). Played WHM from when I started to 5.55, but dropped the job in EW. While I do think WHM and SGE have improved in DT, I will continue to strike as I don’t mind waiting a bit more for some positive changes.
Tank sustain nerfs would be a good start. And then some slight reworks of the DPS kit such as lowering DoT cooldowns and not locking the new DPS actions behind long cooldowns.
For any stance of "it's been that way" one must look to the game's own history. What did they do for 1.0 to 2.0 ? That was quite the drastic measure, and Healers are not asking for such. What about the Stormblood changes? This is the only MMO where if the Healer stops paying attention, there is no consequence.
The developers have tried to find their groove, a perfect routine they can replicate for years to come, unfortunately the current routine leaves Healers in the dust time and time again. Healers are asking they be considered rather than be an after thought.
WHM - Throw rocks or blind your party while regen does all the work
SCH - Chef up some broil while a fae trickster steals your job when you wanted to be a Master Tactician TM
SGE - "We had a tough time designing this one" The difficulty in design actually gave it some good ideas, making off like a bandit with Scholar's class fantasy though, anyways, *woooosh* and *pewpewpew* LASERS! ===
(Sorry Doc, your Hippocratic Oath is on it's 10th war crime, go see the credentialist)
AST - Had interesting cards and Noct/Di but was deemed too complicated, so I guess remove the complication and interest, now you have a worse whitemage with a dmg buff
It wouldn't be so bad if Healers were needed like in every other MMO, but to gut them of all interesting components AND necessity, all that is left is a dying loyalty to a Job most people will not need.

#WWLD ?
I will not partake in the protest though I am a Scholar Main for my duty is first and foremost to the innocents that do need me. I wish to heal the state of the game, but not at the cost of the casual player base.

Overall I like Xeno because he isn't afraid to criticize the game and he cares more about the game instead of fearing the Wrath of Yoshi P not giving him a Media Tour invite.Big angry bald man: I understand why people are upset.
Friendly happy guy: That’s the dumbest f-being thing.
This is why Xeno has 1000 times more respect from me than Happy does. And not because of this either. It’s just funny how you can see the type of people creators are through their personas.
Most other Content Creators like MrHappy will not openly criticize or show any negativity towards FFXIV in any way.
