To be honest, we are never going to have a consensus. We have different generations of healers. Some of us come from older MMOs where 90% of our time was healing, and that's what we enjoyed. Others joined XIV in an era where healing was already about 20% of the job, and that is what they grew up with and enjoy. Many modern MMOs just abandoned the trinity and everyone is a DPS, adding to the number of people who don't see the point of more and more healing in general.

We are not going to have a consensus, but I think they need to pick one solution and roll with it.
It could be either going the full healer route, or the green dps one. Different people would like either, but at least we will get a more interesting gameplay than what we currently have regardless of their choice.

Honestly I think doing this risks some healers just abandoning the movement, especially if the direction chosen favors a direction they disagree with.

I personally prefer full healer, but I'd actually be happy at 50/50 where I have to heal more than I do today, and have more interesting things to do other than press glare.

It's interesting to me that lots of tank mains talk about bad healers as though parties are just wiping left and right due to bad healing at higher levels.

It’s weird too because in all my experience you really need to try hard to die, and it gets worse the higher up in level you go. Like even if your healer is a dog pretending to be a human they can still just hit Medica II repeatedly with their nose and the party will mostly be fine. If there’s a Warrior present, Doggo may as well just retire and go pick up a dps lol.

Also, to reiterate a point I made in another thread: how far are we really going to go to protect people from so-called ‘bad players’? Simplifying the entire game design? Removing chat from all Duty Finder dungeons like PvP? Reduce healing to a single 5000 potency, instant-cast AoE with no MP cost that auto-revives? Will they add auto-battle to healers so their dps spells literally cast themselves in-between heals?

At what point is ‘making it so bad players can’t ruin [my] fun’ going so far that’s it’s literally just making the game worse? In my opinion we’re long…long, long beyond that point.

As a tank main the only real time I see issues with the healer in particular is some ARR dungeons where everyone is playing with a gimped kit and it's actually kind of a challenge to wall pull if you're inexperienced and not paying attention. When it comes to people I would consider "bad players" (I'm really judgey to be fair) melee DPS who waste time running out of AOE when they could have stun cancelled it and DPS that waste multiple LBs by never pressing it are more common than dirt. It's just that their bad playing doesn't make anyone wipe.

How will he get on the media tour list next time if he doesn't parrot the same vein of PR speak like YoshiP?

Its why the idea of only feedback making it to devs being from content creators is a slippery slope , you never know when they'll turn shill just to keep staying on that list. Its just business.

MrHappy was still the last bastion of XIV shilling even back when Zepla was being very unhappy about Endwalker so not surprising.

I feel like the most interesting part about his answer there was that he prefers to play healer in casual content with random people, because he feels like as healer he has the most control over to make sure there will be a smooth run of the content. So I don't think it is that strange that someone doesn't support the strike if they play healer in casual content because that is the role they enjoy the most there (even with the state the game is in).

The just a few people argument sound a little bit dismissive for sure though, but if I understood it correctly it sounded like that it came from experience where he supported stuff like this in the past but later found out that he was only part of a minority where he thought it was a majority before. So I can't fault him for feeling like that.

About waiting for the content first to release. I can understand everyone who is fed up and doesn't want to wait but I can totally understand as well if someone wants to wait and see first. Because it is not long until the expansion releases and nothing will change until then anyway no matter what.

I think his answers there where pretty decent and reasonable (even if they could have been worded a little bit less dismissive in some regards)

I play healer for those exact same reasons myself, I honestly just refuse to do df content without either being a healer myself, or being with a healer I know is good.

Waiting for more info is also a position I hold, but we can still discuss the issues about the things we have seen, as well. (Honestly with endwalker they did make progress with more healing intensive fights throughout the expansion, yeah not all the fights were that good, but the multi-hitters and increased amount of bleeds used were nice.)

I will admit dismissive and reasonable are not mutually exclusive responses.

To be perfectly blunt, Happy doesn't play healers well. He casts multiple GCDs for every other raid wide and doesn't utilize his kit nearly that efficiently. Basically, he's a decent enough healer but isn't any better than your above average player who casts the pointless Medica IIs or Succors. Which, unsurprisingly, leads to him having something of a biased opinion. I wouldn't put him on any sort of authority.

And I wouldn't say him mouthing off, "the healer strike is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. No one gives a <insert four letter word>" as "pretty decent and reasonable."
