There's been many threads here and around the internet with legitimate criticism of the way Healers have been destroyed in shadowbringers and endwalker has not improved things despite sage's introduction.
1. Lack of engaging gameplay from constant Glare/Broil/Malefic/Dosis spam. There is no skill ceiling or depth
2. The level of damage needed to heal in all content is far too low, avoidable, infrequent and scripted
3. The level of healing output in both healers and other roles is far too strong for most encounters
4. The healers are too homogenised and have lost what made them unique with nothing in return. The pure/barrier split is meaningless.
5. Healers have no decision making and very little synergy within their own jobs
6. Healer's actions are bloated with dependant, outdated or functionally useless buttons that have survived pruning when other more valuable skills have been lost
7. Levelling healers is terrible with missing rewards in job quests and skills learned later in spite of previous versions being at lower levels.
8. There are clear signs of nobody with anything more than minimal healer experience designing or testing the healing role and this is causing damage
9. Healer glamour options are far too biased in favour of robes and feminine styles.
10. The "Pure Healer" concept that was explored in Stormblood and forced upon all healers now is extremely unpopular and is unsuitable for FF14's combat system, lore and community
We don't hate you Square enix, but the last 5 years have been horrific for healers and we want this to end.
Your attitude of "Go play ultimate" is utterly tone deaf and rude and you need to change this course if you want to stop bleeding healers. "We can't think of anything to do with scholar" was also incredibly dismissive when we spent years giving you feedback.

In case you might be interested, here are just some of the times forum posts and suggestions were made in the past.
The most comprehensive forum post (from 2020 and still active today): https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-healer-issues
A small number examples of healer redesigns/suggestions from forum members (from 2023-24 alone):

There are many, many, many more examples in the healer forums. I’m hesitant to link more because Im unsure of the forum rules on posting many links in one message.
My point is this - regarding suggestions, we have tried. A lot. No one involved in this strike has arrived here without trying to be reasonable. This is being done as a last resort.

I would say since shadowbringers introduction the healer role has been too easily removed from groups and the players have been left with little chance to play to their class fantasy. We are not damage dealers but a majority of our time is spent hitting dps. Hence all the complaints about a boring dps rotation because in most content we need not stress ourselves doing much else. I love the changes my astro got, I'd just love if the encounters made me more integral to the team.
SE have conditioned healers over several years now to not bother healing due to the lack of challenge in the content. If the expectation of healers must heal is applied consistently you will see fewer instances of people with their brains totally off spamming 1. And if they ever make a change, sure, we will certainly have an initial period of conflict from certain players not adapting to the change, it is for the community to check those people and remind them their role within the team. In places where healing is relevant I don't hesistate to kick a glare spamming WHM from the group. If the role is treated and expected to play as a healer the players will act accordingly in due time.
The role is very approachable, when I was new in STB I started healing with WHM and when I got to heavensward I fell in love with astro. Healing on stormblood astro was some of the most fun I had in all content. It didn't matter if I was playing alone without friends for extra fun, I had a job that felt engaging, enjoyable and much more needed than it is now.

I was talking to a healer friend about this and they mentioned the main problem is that our kit has very little depth and synergy. With a lot of our skills feeling disjointed and not interacting with one another.
They put forward the idea of a healing rotation. A more in-depth way to engage with your kit. Buttons proc-ing other, more powerful buttons that would couple with another third button. This would all be a mix of healing and mitigation with some debuffing/buffing added for extra incentive. A bit more in-depth like the DPS rotation.
I don't know if this has already been thought of or not, just wanted to add their voice to this since they don't come to the Forum.

So the strike has made game journos news: https://www.thegamer.com/final-fanta...trail-changes/
Let's hope the sentiment continues to spread to the point it SE decides to do something about it.
And more importantly, let's hope that if they do decide on something, that we don't have to wait until DT is over to do it.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
I think the straw that broke the camels back for many players is that with this moment watching that dawntrail dungeon, many realised they are staring down the barrel of another two + years of dull gameplay after already experiencing that for the past four.
If they do anything it will be weaken self healing and sustain. But that is pointless if oGCDS are not in turn weakned as well. OGCD are too powerful and add to the problem. So the strike has made game journos news: https://www.thegamer.com/final-fanta...trail-changes/

Supporter here !
In fact, I've begun my own healerstrike since patch 6.1.
The only time I put my healer gloves back since then was to play Alexander savage (yes) with my static, because in this raid, I actually have to heal lol.

I like how he acknowledges that people sign up as healers to heal, but says people shouldn't expect to heal outside of high end content, and also says FF14 wasn't designed to have a lot of heals.
And also seems to imply that healers are designed to be boring in casual content
