More gender based gear please SE! thank you!

Gear should be different between genders for EVERY JOB, not only dancer and healers, it's so unfair how only the shitty boring jobs get cute stuffs.
I'll be honest when I say I actually prefer the look of the male Picto chest because it is more accurate to Relm's costume from VI.
With that being said, I find it ridiculous that they spend the time creating male and female variants like this instead of fixing the Viera/Hrothgar hat issue - especially when we see shit like the fact they're now making the Faerie Tale gear wearable by both. So, we can see male characters running around wearing a pink and gold Cinderella ball gown, but we can't see a male's midriff.
I'd like to see a pictomancer outfit like Relm's added eventually, but to me this AF doesn't look like it was meant to be that.
The version we saw on female characters had a carefree and breezy feel to it... by comparison the male version still has the decoration stitching awkwardly running through it where the cloth should have ended on the female version... it looks unfinished to me, or like they did not even take the aesthetic into consideration when editing it.
Can definitely agree that this is 100% wasted time from the art team.
I think ideally (especially for AF armor because it's meant to be iconic) they should commit to one look that works for both models so they can free up time to work on bringing existing outfits up to speed for all races and genders instead of just adding more to the workload for later. And if they're going to take the time to design two different looks then why not let us actually use those two looks?
The people who "don't think picto belongs in FF" aren't going to be convinced to try or like it just because the midriff is now covered, so I don't know why SE didn't want to let fans and artists enjoy the picto armor we were excited for.

Insane decision making isn't it? Ok, ballgowns and fairy princess is fine. Midriff is too far.. It's like there's no communication between certain branches of the development team. I know the Japanese don't enjoy looking too feminine and were complaining about the men shouldn't have to wear a crop top, so the dev team catered to them and quickly stitched in a longer shirt so they can be all manly while painting. It's all just so so frustrating. But, Japanese development team for Eastern cultural game design. However, Yoshi-P is a smart man with western and eastern knowledge, I don't know why he approves some of the things he does. And I respect the man. There are bad calls made though. Too frequently sometimes.I'll be honest when I say I actually prefer the look of the male Picto chest because it is more accurate to Relm's costume from VI.

The funniest part is you can see the male midriff on the warrior af gear so what's the point in changing pictomancer???I'll be honest when I say I actually prefer the look of the male Picto chest because it is more accurate to Relm's costume from VI.

Relm didn't wear a crop top. I think it's bizarre to see people hyperfixating on a single aspect of an outfit so much even to the point of projecting motivations and some kind of agenda onto the devs. Did you consider the idea that whoever designed it just preferred it that way?
What makes people think the criticms come from the set's ability, or deficiency, to be a relm cosplay?
I certainly didn't interpret the af set to be intended to be a direct cosplay since almost every part of it is different from her look outside of the shape of the hat?
It's more its own thing with some slight thematic callbacks.
~sigh~
I don't think that's where the criticisms are coming from. I said it as a point against this seemingly prevalent attitude that a crop top is inherently necessary to this design and there's some nefarious reason the male version doesn't have it and it couldn't simply be the artists aesthetic preference. It could be that the male version it's meant to recall a outfit design element of a NPC that used the same job. What makes people think the criticms come from the set's ability, or deficiency, to be a relm cosplay?

Because that's not the reason. And it's not about "nefarious reasons", but about " reasons" irregardless. If you peruse a larger thread on the forum there is a member who went to the JP forums on the discussion of the sudden reveal during the media tour that they had changed the PCT set for males. Based on translations the Japanese player base was in distress over looking too female and not appropriate for a male and they would like it changed. In response to their feedback, they produced a sewed in version of the shirt. Japanese players will always come first. Eastern culture is less tolerant of anything that may come off as "gay", it's just where we are at. I would very much like for these things to be non-issues. Just let everyone have the same set or both versions of the set. Whichever they want.I don't think that's where the criticisms are coming from. Beware the lollipop of mediocrity; lick it once, and you'll suck forever.
