Say something and there are those who will find ways to turn it into something else.
Just remember, in threads about no gender locked gear, there are no "women" or "male" clothing.
    Those words are forbidden.

I understand what you mean, but let's be honest: clothing is fairly nebulous when it comes to gender.
For example, below would be considered "80's fashion for men":

Before 1923 (in America), a woman wearing pants in public was socially frowned upon. In Ancient Greece, men wore skirts/robes that were, at times, even shorter than the women's skirts/robes:
    .
With all of that said, I feel the world of FFXIV allows for more leeway when it comes to men's and women's clothing. Like, buff dudes running around in subligars is a thing, even if it's played for jokes in the narrative at times.

I think you both are missing the point.
so I'll just say this, if you can define both "genders" without using the word itself, then maybe you have reasonable ground to define what is "male" or "female" armors/clothing/etc.

But that's one thing people who don't understand the "differences between the 'Sexes' " do not understand.

    ______________________

It's clearly a big enough deal to various kind of players in various locations of the world. So much that they unlocked previous sets before.
(those that remain locked being technical reasons, choices that can change at any moment, or simply the P/D of said IP/Title made the choice to not allow. like some specific Gear from other FFs)

While it isn't entirely about Gear Unlocks, it is part of the overall umbrella that is part of that thread. and as evidenced by the latest Media Tour with some of the asked questions.
It is something they know and have considered fully. (for direct info to that, probably best to ask the player who dug it up from the massive amounts of information within the specific thread) and tbh, these topics have gone for longer than most new accounts have been.
(while adjacent, Gear Unlocks originated in XI, and other MMO, Or RPGS/TTRPG)

This simply is just a variable of that overarching umbrella.

    ____________________________________

Down to it's core, players just want options, and options are OPTIONAL to all.

And like said in the larger Gear/Role Unlock Thread. We can just simply ask for options or choices to allow you as a player to not see those options at all, in your game.

There is no other meanings, or alternative thought processes.

Cut and Dry, as much as some users may try to insert irrelevant narratives(or ideology)

You can pretty much already make this outfit in game for male characters.

....I hope that hair never comes back in style though.

This very typical SE make a design choice get feedback, change it and repeat the same mistake.

I mean look at female hrothgat hair, they made male head and hair two things and repeated the same mistake with female.

The thing that infuriates me the most, is that with most of these hats, all they have to do is hide the ears like they do with Miqo'te. Examples - the AST hat, BLM hat, Picto hat.

If they can't create variations, then instead of letting people see what they cannot have (eg. a female character wanting the male covered shirt), just make no variation whatsoever and just accept that specific item is what it is.

Or just have all armor share the Hempen Robe model and call it a day.

This may seem shocking to some, but not every player wants their male character to be wearing women's clothes.
Who are you to decide that a midriff is "women's clothes"? People need to take a look around them at culture and stop trying to take us back to the Victorian 1800's. Come on, folks. How about clothes are clothes? Are you gender locked at your local Target? Sorry, ma'am, those are boxers; you require a male present as they are "men's clothes." (This example is used because I know MANY women prefer to wear boxers to traditional women's underwear because they find them comfortable.) /gasp, Can you imagine? So much diversity. Can we allow and tolerate this? Stop perpetuating a gender narrative; let people be themselves. Inside--and out of a video game. Full stop.

Also, I'm looking at dozens of examples right now of midriffs and even more skin exposed on plenty of gear pieces (that go on either gender) throughout this game's history. The "Hooded Fireglass Leather Vest" is way more "risque" than a cute painting assemblage for PCT's job-designed gear... It's not only showing your stomach but it's also made of leather. That's dangerous...mighty dangerous. Where's the outrage? /sarcasm

I was disappointed by that too... and the comparatively boring masc variation of the DNC gear as well. They just won't let us have bare midriff anymore. u_u
