    That is so frustrating, I am so sorry that that was the customer support that you received.

    They should at least be properly briefed on the issues. Enough people have complained at this point that any sort of customer service management must be aware that it's an ongoing issue.

    Disappointingly I am still waiting to hear back from the SE data controller, and hear specifically what personal data is used by the payment processor.

    It's been about 1.5 weeks now since their last response.

    I've been quite enjoying the expansion but I can't let this keep this topic of discussion from getting moved from view with what is honestly lesser concerns by more people.

    For those who might be interested, I got another response from the Square data controller.


    They basically have said that they cannot alter personal data due to technical limitations in their system..
    They also pushed to ask if I'm asking for erasure of my data (deletion of my account). Which is frustrating as I've repeatedly stated I would like my data to be rectified, not erased, as per my rights under GDPR.

    If it is a breach of data regulations, I'm not sure that technical limitations is a very good argument.

    They have ignored my question about what personal data is being used by the new payment processor so round the merry-go-round we go again, woo~

    Please fix this. I want to give you my money.

    I ticketed and was told I should recreate a new account and start over but no refunds. Restart my account after having it for 9 years. What a ridiculous solution. Upgrade the system if you have limitations. Are people supposed to just never move countries?

    I just started a similar post and also considering taking legal actions. I'm sorry to discover this and see so many people affected. Me and my friends discovered the region lock after all switching to Xbox and spending our money on the new license, to discover square is blocking our access because we have a US account but are now all expats in Europe. So the devices we have are locked to the EU, as well as games purchased on it. Beyond just telling them about EU law, have you taken steps to notifying the EU customer protection?

    It's been really saddening since we were all exited to play Dawntrail on a better platform (we came from PS4) and preorder bbase game and dawntrail expansion, to fire it up last Friday and been unable to play every since... It's been an absolute nightmare of countless mails with both square Enix and Xbox, who also refuses to refund us btw.

    Just want to bump this thread up. This issue haven't affected me yet despite moving countries since I'm a steam player but the whole situation is just ridiculous. At some point they will need to update their nightmare of a system. I don't understand why they are delaying it when it got so many issues

    So another update from the data controller, they sent an email very soon after the last one, saying it had been sent in error and to disregard it.. ha

    So in the updated reply they say:
    "We can confirm that, with few exceptions, the payment processor for FFXIV will accept any debit/credit card and does not require updated address information to process payments. As such, your current address not matching the 'country of registration' should have no effect on your payment being processed."
    This has left me scratching my head. I've not run into payment issues myself yet as my card was added on the old payment system and my sub hasn't come up for renewal yet (and I'm too scared to pause it). But then where are the issues coming from if they say there is no issue? Is there only no issue in EU?

    Can people confirm if they're still getting invalid address responses and the region they're in?

    They also confirmed the personal data being used by the payment processor:
    • Payment card information
    • Name
    • Contact information
    • Billing address

    As country of current residence is never data captured by them, there is nothing to be rectified on their end.

    Not sure where to go from here honestly..
