All Boats Rise With The Tide..,
I can put up with the addition of cloth to men's clothing. I will put up with that.
But I absolutely cannot tolerate the addition of cloth to men's clothes to make them look uncool.
*Supplemental
Maybe I am just scared.
My sense is that the atmosphere in the Japanese forum is so queerphobic that I can't even utter the word queerphobia.
Thanks to the English forum for taking it up as an agenda item.

Wait, is that a thing? Is this probably the reason why? Do Japanese players throw little fits if there's a sense of homophobia/gender identity fluidity infused into their culture? Because that's really going to piss me off. And if so, only their queerphobic small views matter to the developers? The playerbase of FFXIV extends worldwide, folks. I cannot stand close mindedness. Does anyone actually think forcing the shirt down is more aesthetically pleasing then leaving it as a midriff? I know people complain about the overall AF set "being ugly", that's fine. For me, my color palette is almost perfectly matched with the PCT set, so of course I want to wear it as INTENDED by the designers before someone intervened with a "our japanese players that it's "too gay", make it longer". /furious

(Me Personally, I just choose to believe it doesn't have to do with anything with what people choose to ascribe to or are. aka, people don't ask for these options just cause they are, but cause it's an option that allows them to then choose to be as they like.)
[Me Personally, would only be against, if it was suddenly forced down people's gullets. which none of this ever was. unlike what's happening out there in GamIndustry. Along with other things at the same time]
And none of this denies(asks/requests) anyone of having gear as they want. We just want a Separate available set, since that seems as the best solution. Since there maybe a (veryveryvery)few who like this as it is.
At best, I will Hopium that they give a set with mirrored examples of PICtomancer, and Dancer. (More so, since we have examples of previous outfits that make them less of a issue to adjust in the example of Dancer)
Out of curiosity I was running posts from the JP forums through a translator to gauge the general response.
Regarding the PCT and RPR changes specifically, the posts asking for the original version of the AF got about 50% more upvotes than the ones saying they prefer the changes, and those currently have ~30 and ~20 upvotes respectively.
Using a translator I can't know things like nuance that might indicate trolls or intentionally antagonistic phrasing, but the feedback supporting the changes sounded genuine and reasonable and mostly in support of letting players choose between the two versions.
Several comments were sentiments similar to:Going back further in the thread several years it looked to be a bit more volatile, so maybe some of that mood still lingers and was lost in translation."I'm very glad they added the extra fabric. I play a male character and I'm not comfortable showing that much skin, but I think maybe it would be best if players could choose between the two."
Like looking through random old posts in that thread, the JP forum generally seems to favor having different gendered looks (many complaints about male healers wearing robes, even).
I'm seeing complaints about old event sets being designed for female characters as a "base" and then edited for male characters as an afterthought (which it does feel like the art team does...).
Older posts seem to have suggestions to push the designs even further apart to make them more distinct, but the recent posts seem to focus more on the "if there are already two designs, why not let players choose which one they want to use?" part.
Personally I'm still very surprised how many players on the JP forums support the gendered armor at all, considering it is a daily disappointment for me and the hundreds of complaints I see about it on the EN side. But I'd also love to see two different versions of outfits... if we can choose which to wear.

Enough with the genderlocks, SE. Literally no one wants them. Add a toggle or make the gear comparable (like the summer sets--the only difference being chest coverage for fem charas).
Thanks for the deep dive you did in some translation over there. It's really unfortunate to hear about volatility about this stuff in 2024, I'm glad you say it seems to have lessened over the past few years. I'm generally "hip" on Eastern culture as a whole and realize that acceptance and equality of sexuality, gender identity etc. are moving much slower. But to be fair to Eastern culture, Western culture (i.e., mostly just us in the U.S. right now) is trying to slip backwards into the 1950s (Side note: folks, if you're 18+, please VOTE this November. and every election...seriously). It's hard for me to imagine feeling "uncomfortable" showing that much of my digital, not real skin, especially when we have no secondary sex characteristics in this game. Heck, we don't even have toes or non-shoes, right? It's always a sandal and a blocked polygon strapped into it. lol.Out of curiosity I was running posts from the JP forums through a translator to gauge the general response.

I'm glad everyone thinks we should have the choice if they've already made two versions of the set though. However, they need to unlock the gender b.s. then. Nowish. If they're not comfortable they don't have to wear it, but they don't get to decide what I'll be wearing that makes me comfortable/happy.

I wouldn't be surprised considering throwing a fit the moment men get slightly more feminine looking options is what the EN forums do, too.Wait, is that a thing? Is this probably the reason why? But I don't want to play a female character. If I did, I would have made one. Percibel is not just a random avatar I use, he's a character who was originally created for DnD. Making him a woman just because SE makes male clothes ugly doesn't sit right with me.
im surpised people liked this comment, but regardless. isnt the point of creating a character to enjoy that race or gender? why should i be forced to be something i dont want to be just so i can show off some skin. thats wild
