They have also never seen historical fashion before. Men used to wear short shorts with tights, high heels, powdered wigs and makeup. Also, for a very long time men basically wore dresses and skirts and nobody thought it was weird.ah yes the two genders: skin or no skin.
Anyways, I have recently experienced the joy of dressing up my catboy in skirts and I LOVE feminine gear for him. He is flamboyant in style and I would have appreciated if I was given the option to put him in a croptop as I pick up PIC. I'm pretty disappointed that I will not have the option to do that.
side note: people who espouse rigid gender roles as being very important have probably never seen a bird before. We do not need a rigid gendered dress code in this game. Let men be flamboyant and show skin if they want to.
Oof, that male DNC gear looks awful compared to the renders on the DT site. I was already disappointed it looks completely different from the fem set but that’s just… oof.
whats even the point of filling in the picto shirt on men? the outfit is already flamboyant, might as well commit
Once again, I maintain that DNC was not made with male characters in mind at all. That's why my glam uses a crafted HW shirt instead. I dream of a day they let us glam any job's gear so I can get the Eden Scouting shirt.

That’s not the issue, people want to see their MALE characters in gear that’s more similar to the female versions. Picto is a perfect example. As for dancer, the male set just looks uninspired compared to the female. I would’ve preferred we lose the vest and use the scarf on the waist around the chest instead, or just remove the vest and add more ornaments like the first dancer set had.
I loved the first two dancer artifact sets, but this new one is an egregious downgrade. And oh man the Eden scouting top would be such good dancer glam! I usually just go with one of the summer crop tops from the mog shop for my dancer.Once again, I maintain that DNC was not made with male characters in mind at all. I use the Raptorskin Shirt to give my DNC a Flamenco dancer/toreador vibe. It was the best thing I could come up with. Most Aiming gear is obviously made for MCH and not DNC, unfortunately.
Just showing my support for "either make both versions available for everyone or make the gear pretty much the same". It's irritating that female characters are still forced into short skirts when male characters get a nice pair of pants, while male characters can't find a single pair of shorts and female characters are drowning in them. (Disclaimer, I am exaggerating, but there is still a trend.)
The new WAR AF shows the midriff even on male characters, why can't Pictomancer? Male Viera's racial gear clearly shows their midriff, too. Most of this genderlocking seems completely arbitrary.
I've been really happy that they've been slowly unlocking more and more gear, but stuff like this is a step backwards.
This is incredibly disappointing. How does this keep happening? I thought we made our voice loud and clear that we don't want gender locked gear, and they started fixing that?
Honestly it’s kinda just horrendous; not even about the gender lock anymore, the male DNC design legit looks like those grandmas dancing downstairs with disgusting music blasting at MAX volume for hours and dance to it.
Really reminds me of those money scamming performances in China to lure tourists, by putting together the most untasteful random scattered pieces of cloth together, then calling it “exotic” because it looks absolute too dumb to even be an existing outfit.
On the other hand, male picto really went from actual artist, to “I graduate from art school and hence an artist” then pull out the most oiled up, probably even AI generated, so called “art” that is merely copying their references. Really went from Kishibe Rohan to tank top boomers, damn!
But well, Square Enix, you do you, surely that “just use a fantasia if you want another gender’s outfit”, when fantasia isn’t even free! What a great way to market your products and earn cash, Square Enix! Genius move! Advertising something in the game, and ended up making it not for everyone! ^^ Honestly I should learn more from them so I can be in financial crisis just like them!
