    Returning Player Feedback

So, I'm just returning to game after having not played for bit. I thought I'd catch up and play the expansion some. Having been enjoying some other games, there are several things I'm finding a bit frustrating, but three are definitely among the top:

The Glamour System: First, let me say I have no issue with the games ARMOURY system or the need to maintain multiple gearsets. I think that's amazing and have no issue with needing to maintain a current/multiple gearsets for whm, pld, etc. What's frustrating is having to maintain gear for glamouring purposes. How is it not possible to have a gear journal with a Y/N (1/0) coded toggle for whether or not you've attained a piece of gear allowing you to glamour it?

UI Responsiveness: I've played FFXIV since the 1.0 open beta, so I definitely appreciate all the improvements made to the game since 1.0. That being said, since 1.0 the UI responsiveness has become a bit of an issue. I've definitely started to notice when playing other games and then coming back to XIV. Again, I'm not referring to combat pacing or global cooldowns, I'm talking about how fast windows will open, how responsive items are when you click on/move them, sell them, etc. It's to the point where it's starting to almost seem laggy when compared to other games.

FFXIV really shines when it comes to story and, as old as it is, graphics. I hope some of these things that could use some polish/updating get a good once over. There are some really big QOL improvements that need to be had in game.

PS - please also consider adding some decently rewarding four man content and refreshing the stagnant patch cycle.

Well there are 800 slots in the Glamour Dresser. That's a lot. I've not even used them all after dumping all my useless inventory in it. I think it's pretty logical, in traditional game development, for it to be an inventory. A Y/N toggle seems like a WoW idea from what I've gathered.

I used to think that but I noticed a massive improvement at higher FPS. In the case of moving items, ping can be a factor.

They are planning to continue the variant/criterion dungeons.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

If you have all your jobs leveled, that's not even four items per gear slot for each job. Their own armory page lists 12,041 pieces of amor, so 800 isn't even 7% of the total available to equip? Also, much of those 800 pieces wouldn't even be gear you'd actually want to equip as a combat classes. Much of it would be just general glamour stuff like chocobo heads, beach attire, wedding stuff, etc.

My FPS is quite high as I'm running on a 4070ti and my ping is around 30, so no issues there. I still notice the interface lag.

    Regarding the glamour dresser:

Your estimates of 4 item per gear slot per job is misleading when most gear is either cosmetic (can be equipped by any job) or role specific (can be equipped by up to 4 jobs depending on role).

Why do players need to be able to collect every single item? They're never going to use most of them, or only use them until something better comes along to replace them, at which point they can get rid of the previous item.

I'm familiar with WoW's transmogrification so I understand the convenience of the on-off flag. But there's also no need to keep the actual item as gear is quickly replaced on a character and there's no reason to equip lower level gear once you've got an upgrade. Here there is reason because we can do every job on every character. The glamour dresser is helpful storage for those still working on leveling old jobs. Changing to the flag toggle system means the players would have to farm a lot of that lower level gear over and over as it became needed for the next job because they would run out of room in inventory.

Better inventory management would solve most player problems. Don't keep something because you might want to use it in the future (unless it's something very rare and hard to get). Keep something because you will use it now or in the next couple of weeks. You can go back to farm the item later if you decide later that you are ready to use it.

WoW's glamour system(transmog) is better than FFxiv. Every game has its strengths. FFxiv glamour system is really good. However if it were possible I would prefer WoWs system where you can collect every piece of gear in game.

The whole point of my post on the Glamour system is that there really isn't a point in needing to retain the item in FFXIV either, other than the fact that the system design is incredibly poor. The argument of "better inventory management" (ie delete the item and then just spend additional time later and go refarm it again if you want to glamour it) is incredibly dismissive of the player bases' time.
