Thread: Is housing ever going to get fixed?

Its been a decade of the same problem. the supply and demand is just so damn bad.
Ive literally been bidding once a week for 2 years and still have not won. im not asking for a specific plot. im asking for any. ive been bidding on the lowest amount of bids house. I make a spreadsheet each week to keep track. An example of last weeks supply and demand on medium houses. there were 2 medium houses up for bid. there were over 900 bids between those two. having a supply and demand of 1 to 450 is just so dumb.
The argument about the community or neighborhood feel is moot. I have not once seen a single person in a ward in a literal year.
Square really needs to introduce instance housing. or Letting people upgrade their plot sizes. for example if you have a small house. If you pay the gil for a medium and then a large if they so choose then they can. Its really demoralizing losing week after week after 100 weeks

This is 10 years the problem exist, this is 10 years square ignore it. in 10 or 15 years you will still be in same housing nightmare.
Especially now that they created the useless Island sanctuary....

If they want to keep the ward system in place, then mediums and larges should have some sort of upkeep system beyond the normal demo timer. There are so many people who buy larger plots and then don't bother to decorate them and completely ignore them or just turn them into furniture storage dumps. If you had to pay gil to keep the house then I suspect many of these people wouldn't bother sticking around, and a ton of supply would be freed up for people who actually care about housing.
Also, apartments should be upgrade-able into small, medium, and large variants for gil. I have no idea why this isn't already a feature.

It's pretty easy to get a house these days, there are a ton of houses with zero bids on your server right now. Getting a medium or large is a different story but it seems the design intent there is to have some amount of prestige in owning one, so they're going to be harder to come by since there are less of them. Whether you agree with that philosophy or not is up to you, but the chances of SE uprooting the entire system to replace it with instanced housing is pretty much zero.

This will never happen but I agree with the sentiment. I like to explore the different housing wards to see the designs people have come up with and more often than not the large plots are completely empty or close to it. It's such a waste.

I've always wanted upgrade-able apartments/houses, it would be amazing if they implemented a system like in Animal Crossing where you pay a bunch of gil to upgrade the interior size until it eventually gets to the size of a large. I'd also love if they throw in a small outdoor balcony for apartments where you can place like 10 outdoor furnishing items, maybe by default the outdoor scenery matches your housing zone location and you can glamour it to look like other zones (Lavender Beds get a view of a lake surrounded by the forest, Mist gets an ocean view). This would be a good way to still make use of outdoor furnishings that you might've purchased on the Mog Station store, so they aren't completely useless if you decide to unsub and come back without a house.

The more you want a house, then there is a reason to keep you subbed forever. Certainly, I don't get why you want a house (unless some sick ERP) when apartments exist.

Lol what? Im pretty sure people use housing for ERP purposes is a minority. Once youre out of story content a lot of people look to other things to be their end game. including glamour, mount collecting, minion collecting, furniture collecting and house decorating.
And apartments are tiny with a low item limit. thats why people want houses lol yikes

I feel like they really should just make instanced small/medium/large housing a thing at this point.

You can still have a full exterior/interior to decorate, just minus the immersion of being part of an actual neighborhood.

There are permanently empty plots in Zodiark, here supply already surpassed demand. I guess some servers are just too populated.
