There is no reason they couldn't put in an option to "Refuse all duels", that way you are never bothered by it. Personally, I'd love the option since it really does help with the boredom that often comes with standing around and waiting for things to happen.Except that as has been stated earlier, most players don't want pvp outside of the arena. By keeping it limited to the arena you are guaranteed to find somebody to answer your request positively. Lets put it this way, if I ewant pvp I'll go to the arena, if not, I don't want to be annoyed by your requests for it from me.
The issue with that option is people start bad mouthing the people who have auto reject on. I've played MMO's with duel and the people who sit there and spam duel on people get pissed after being rejected 50 times. I don't know if the blacklist has a limit on how many people can be on it but I don't want to find out.
with the option to receive a duel invite turned off, I'd love to know how someone is going to badmouth you about it oO that makes no sense at all. not dueling is the same as not wanting to do anything else. there's always people that don't want to duel, even pvp addicts don't want it now n then, that's why the option to deny a request is there. people tend to respect it, and move on.The issue with that option is people start bad mouthing the people who have auto reject on. a person can respect it but then you have the idiots that don't respect it. It happens a lot. I'd still rather see it in specific areas that aren't connected to where people have to walk around. Arenas are a great idea duel request in an arena isn't unreasonable. You have to remember that just because you won't do that that doesn't mean everyone else follows your same example or does the same thing you do.with the option to receive a duel invite turned off, I'd love to know how someone is going to badmouth you about it oO that makes no sense at all. not dueling is the same as not wanting to do anything else. there's always people that don't want to duel, even pvp addicts don't want it now n then, that's why the option to deny a request is there. people tend to respect it, and move on.
I remember 14 years ago while playing nexus they introduced an area that allowed pvp... problem was it was open pvp to anyone who walked into that area... good thing was people wanted it bad thing to get to certain places you HAD to go through that area to get where you wanted to go... and people would take advantage of it especially the rogues with their invis spell and quick attack then back the person would die all their gear and loot would drop and you're sitting there even if your lvl 99 going wtf my breakable crap just broke because some idiot killed me when I didn't want to be killed.
thus I'd rather just have it in certain areas and not open and areas nor do i like being spammed by players wanting to fight me all the time like they did when i was play dc universe online.
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!

Just because some other game had bad pvp design doesn't make it applicable here. I don't believe anyone is asking for open world, kill anyone at anytime style pvp. A friendly duel between two consenting players is all the topic is about. There are no consequences to winning or losing, purely a way to pass the time and practice for the real pvp that will take place in the arena.a person can respect it but then you have the idiots that don't respect it. I have never seen anyone sit and spam duel someone in such a fashion. If it has happened it is incredibly rare and its the exact reason we have a blacklist; those people are likely exhibiting that type of behavior no matter what they are doing. There is absolutely no reason to restrict fun gameplay options just because 1 in 100000 players might abuse it. If we start doing that then there won't be much of a game left. The issue with that option is people start bad mouthing the people who have auto reject on. I've play something like 6 MMO's with duel in it (was shopping around >.>) Every single one I had someone spam me with duel as soon or shortly after I started playing. About 3 I only played for a week. The rest I played for a month or two. I left 2 of the 3 cause they didn't have a auto reject feature so I had to click no every time someone tried to duel me then they would either get bored after a bit or get pissed. A few times I took the duel to shut them up and they killed me in 2 hits as expected. Some people kept spamming me with duel even after I took one to shut em up. In the others it had auto reject and sometimes people would complain that I wouldn't duel and I would port somewhere else. One of the games I would take the duels of people 5-10 levels above me because the level system was messed up and you could kill someone 5-10 levels above you if you had skill. This game also had items you could buy to make you ungodly strong and was why I stopped. There's my story of free to play MMO's.I have never seen anyone sit and spam duel someone in such a fashion. Well, either you're very unlucky or I'm very lucky. I've played many such MMOs myself and I have never had that experience and nor have I ever heard of anyone else with such an experience. Besides that, it sounds like those games failed at other basic levels of game design.I've play something like 6 MMO's with duel in it (was shopping around >.>) Every single one I had someone spam me with duel as soon or shortly after I started playing. I still don't see how those experiences are applicable here. A system where the duels are entirely optional and you have an additional option to refuse all of them should make everyone happy. Sure someone might ask why you are refusing duels but.. so what? Its a social game, you're going to encounter people who say things you don't like.

If they bother ya /blacklist add "", I may pvp some people in linkshell so they can train themselves for their ego fights with other players. but I really cant be bothered by some Ego who will bother me till they have a win against me which means nothing, I would like a auto block like in the chat format where you can hide all say, shout, and other stuff. The issue with that option is people start bad mouthing the people who have auto reject on. Also proabably will not duel anyone unless they wear exact same gear(100% status) and job and level, if your going to say your good at PVP, prove it by dueling someone on equal footing and just hope you dont lag out during the fight or DC because we all know this game is stable, and if they put a CS for like in a arena type duel no point in dueling because whoever gets out of cs first has an edge.
