I don't care for dueling but as long as I don't have to participate I don't mind if others do. However I would like an option to automatically ignore all duel requests... I don't even want to have to see the requests.
The spamming of requests in WoW was so bad I actually downloaded an addon that just denied them all.
I support duels anywhere any time in the game world outside of cities. They are a fun way to pass time and practice with friends or strangers spontaneously without having to deal with a separate queue system.
If you don't want to deal with someone /dueling you repeatedly, put them on /ignore and submit a ticket for player harassment, just like how you would deal with any other form of in-game harassment.
We asked the man himself and he let us know that the dev. team have indeed considered implementing dueling, but that it's currently not a high priority at the moment.

Damn, dueling would have been an awesome way to settle which LS won claim over a world HNM (if FF14 swings that way with HNMs eventually)
Fafnir pops!
LS leaders locked into duel!
LS leader 1 wins duel and wins claim!
Wouldnt be able to bot a duel! well maybe

On person says that want dueling and its being considered. Even though that could cause all kinds of balancing issues.
However, tonnes of people ask for swimsuits, which require nothing but an npc to sell them. And SE is unable to so it.
Wow talk about priorities in order.
w/e make the game a wow clone... you want a flop on your hands, you'll get one.

You're so wrong it hurts. And I don't even want dueling either. But a)They said the dev team had already considered this BEFORE this thread was made. and (b) Duels by themselves would not cause balance issues, as stated, it would only be an extension of PVP, which they are already implementing/balancing.On person says that want dueling and its being considered. and (c) who caaaaaaaaares about the swimsuits GOSH, it was a limited-time seasonal event item. Get Over It! and wait for them to come around again![]()
I can't believe such a stupid post got a Like.On person says that want dueling and its being considered. Even though that could cause all kinds of balancing issues.

First of all more than one person wanted duelling. Second of all, "balancing issues" can be solved with "balancing". So don't sweat it. Plus, there's already PvP anyways.
Third of all, swimsuits have nothing to do with this.
Fourth of all, they SHOULD be prioritising game features over of swimsuits anyway.
Fifth of all, if this game decides to implement a feature for people to PvP where and when they want to at nobody else's expense, then that doesn't make it a WoW clone, that just makes it good.

Actually regarding the character balance is where you are wrong. Reason being and this is something that always has been done for FFXI and will continue in FFXIV is that the Devs will end up breaking or reducing the power of classes and or jobs to "balance" the other jobs. There will never be complete balance and there never will. All SE and the Dev's will end up doing is destroying 1 class or job in order to "Balance" anything.
Also on ur 5th comment, yes in fact if SE continues to cater to all the crying over this and that FFXIV will become a WoW clone or at most just another standard MMO thats boring and plain that dosent stand out above the rest. The issue is yes some feed back is needed but FFXIV has gotten so much feed back on what it needs by the players that, if they dont stop implimenting all these ideas, it will end up destroying the game.
I don't understand your post. They said it's a low priority. There is no reason not to throw a little bone to the handful of people that want something. it's not like this is coming next patch or even the patch after that.On person says that want dueling and its being considered. PvP is already coming. It's going to be part of the game. Not an open world kill or be killed thing, but it's not just going to be a sideshow either.I think there are plenty of other PvP focused games out on the market, and adjusting jobs for PvP will fuck over the PvE of this game. This game should first and foremost be a PvE game, just like the rest of the Final Fantasy series.
Lack of innovation I swear will be the death of Final Fantasy. New things need to be both fresh and familiar. You can't just say "All the other final fantasy games did <blah> this way so this one has to do it too." They need to do what feels right to them for the game- which is both adding to the "FF feel" and doing something new or different. Many of the FF games have totally unique combat systems, yet they manage to remain Final Fantasy. You can have PvP in a Final Fantasy game. Hell, that's 100% entirely what Dissidia Final Fantasy is about...
FF doesn't really even have a single world or universe. What is and isn't Final Fantasy is totally subjective.
Nobody's going to hold a gun to your head and tell you you have to play PvP or duel people in this game. It's going to be totally voluntary.
