Half of my Gil lost due to housing policy not written on placard before entering

I entered the a housing lottery for a plot. The game took my Gil as intended, and as the only participant, I won.

However I entered the housing lottery for another private plot during the same lottery period on a different chara, as I did not know about the 'one private estate per character per world' rule. The game let me enter the lottery on both instead of stopping me on the 2nd chara.

When I went to claim my private estate on my 2nd chara, I was blocked by the error message 'Lottery entry and plot purchase unavailable. No more land may be purchased as a character on this service account already owns land on this world.'


I thought 'Ok, fair enough'. Upon returning to the placard during the results period, because I didn't claim the house only half of my Gil was returned. But I physically couldn't claim it, pressing 'Yes' to claim the house just gave me the error message and pressing 'No' just exited the menu.

I'm not upset about the system.

What I'm upset at is why the game allows you to enter the lottery on a 2nd chara when the policy stops you from claiming any plots? In addition, in the T&Cs after interacting with the placard, there is no mention of the 'one private estate per character per world' rule. Then the game allows you to enter on your 2nd chara, takes your Gil, then refuses to let you claim the plot if you win or refund you.

What is actually written on the placard:


- This land is currently available for purchase by private buyers only.
- Once submitted, a lottery entry may not be withdrawn.
- You can confirm lottery results by viewing this placard during the results period.
- Unsuccessful entrants can receive a 100% refund of their deposit by accessing this placard during the results period.
- When relocating from an existing plot, in principle, approximately 15% of the value of the old plot will be refunded to you. However, please note that the refunded amount may not exceed the value of the new plot.
- Should you fail to claim your plot of land during the results period despite having won the lottery, your claim will be forfeit and a 50% cancellation fee will be deducted from the deposit made at entry. You will be refunded the remaining 50% upon accessing this placard.
- Regardless of lottery results, any and all refunds for a given lottery period expire 90 days (Earth time) after the results period. Please be sure to access this placard within the allotted time to receive any applicable refunds.
- You may not apply for another plot of land until all outstanding properties/refunds have been claimed.


No mention of the rule.

Since I didn't choose to not claim the house and was stopped by the policy, I submitted a ticket to ask for my full amount of Gil back. They did not acknowledge what my ticket was actually about, said the system was 'working as intended' and told me to post here.

So I've lost half my Gil due to the game not informing me of this rule.

I'm lowkey surprise you could even bid with a second character. When I tried doing it or well my partner did they wouldn't even let them bid down a plot anymore cause of the server limit.

if no one on account on that world has a house yet, there is no flag to check, it only appears once a plot is claimed. many people go for a personal with multiple alts and which ever one wins they main, or just run two characters purely to decorate house. I made an alt on Maduin when Dynamis opened to get a personal, since the Zalera housing market is super tight. I ended up getting real attached, so now I split time between characters, making money for housing and glam. I just love decorating, and cant wait until my Goblet smalls can be larges on the inside

This definitely seems like an oversight in the housing system. It shouldn't let you bid with more than one character in the same bidding period.

Why not? They are all different characters and as such have to earn and do whatever the main does to progress. The idea that they can't bid is ridiculous. The fact that only one character can win is fine and it's up to anyone to know the rules with respect to characters and their restrictions to only one house per account per server.

Putting the rule in the bidding description wouldn't hurt and would at least allow people who don't know the rules to not bid if losing the money with multiple wins bothers them.

And it's also time that SE gave alts the right to share a house with their main or alts regardless of server or DC. It's all the same account.

As I said, I have no issue with the system itself. Just wish they notified people in the actual game instead of having to go elsewhere to find the information. They just need to put an extra line at the bottom of the paragraph on the placard. Would take no time or effort at all.
