New Benchmark looks whitewashed

Maybe its my settings, but i haven't changed them in the old benchmark or this one so they should be preset already. But this new benchmark looks whitewashed compared to the old one. The first scene of the boat on water looks whiter. Then if you look at the beach scene, you see its white/foggy looking. The waterfalls look foggy too. I was told it was "ambient occlusion" but i turned it off in settings and it still looked the same.

When I compared the two I personally felt the colors in the new benchmark were better Have you tried turning down Gamma Correction?

Ive messed with all the options i could but doesnt seem to change it. hope the game doesnt look like this. my game looks like this video on youtube

The old bench had some distractingly dark shadows going on, especially on the boat. They're noticeably lighter in the bench and I think that it looks better overall, tbh, but that could help add to an overall sense of it being lighter.

That comparison vid is probably a combination of a few factors (along with the shadows mentioned above), but importantly the gamma correction is likely different in both of them. You can see it on the loading screen before the bit you posted (t=102s), the picture on the left is darker than the one on the right (see the rock in the upper left for an easy comparison), which has nothing to do with graphical updates/lighting/etc since it's literally just a picture being displayed. Could it be something else? Maybe, but at the very least, there's something in this comparison that's different beyond the actual 3D lighting/rendering engine.



It also looks like the new one has higher fog settings than the old benchmark.

Gamma adjustment needs to be turned down to 0, its so bad that black hair is gray and even black irises are gray.

Agreed, the lighting change feels like it desaturates the colors in open, sunny areas.
And unfortunately the game already has a little bit of an issue with desaturated and flat colors.

It seemed fine to me. I'm just glad that they actually applied the graphics update to it properly this time.
