There's no excuse to NOT make the swimwear available this year,

Development Team: "We don't want to make them available this year."

They don't need an excuse they simply choose not to. If you didn't get it last year, tough titty, you missed it. If you had the ability to play FFXIV but chose not to again, tough titty, you lost your chance. If you couldn't play and missed it, they stated next year they more than likely be available again. This year we get Yukata, it's as simple as that.

It's an important piece for a slot that has very few options and it is a vanity piece that can be worn in PVE.

It's not integral to gameplay at all, I can promise you wearing a bikini under your armor will not enhance your gameplay compared to wearing a mid level upgrade to the base underwear set. It's nice to have but it is not at all that important.

1 year is a long enough wait, and this is the kind of thing that should be available to everyone within that time frame since it's a seasonal piece.

2010-2011, summer of last year you had the ability to get it. People didn't want to play XIV even when it was F2P so technically no one is entitled to get it but those who chose to play the game even in it's rough state.

I would bet there are many many people that were eagerly anticipating this summer event for that very reason.

If they would have kept up with what the reps said last year, they would have known it won't be available this year.....

This decision will make many subbing customers upset, and I can relate and agree with their frustration. It should be hot fixed in to the patch and at least put on a vendor if the old quest line can't be reinstated...

Unless the event is the exact same event there's absolutely no reason for them to be available from this years summer event.

It wouldn't make sense to offer 2 different sets of summer event items in one event. It makes MORE sense to introduce both items next year because by then there's a good chance it will give people who never touched XIV the first time the opportunity to get it.

or you can just tell me to deal with it and think it's fine that I should wait 2 years, I wont be the only one that runs out of patience on this narrow view of how to handle these things.

Elexia, it's not hurting you in any way if they offered it and it's important to many people. Please get over yourself. The amount of selfishness over this item you are showing is astounding.

For many people with certain personality types things like this are important and is a major reason they play MMOs just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's wrong. Many people will be upset. It's the kind of thing that will vastly improve my game play and not having one will drastically reduce my enjoyment (1 year wait IS enough). Who are you to tell me otherwise?

How about I didn't lose my chance and SE does the right thing and makes customers happy with a fix to their patch for an important yet trivial to hand out piece. I waited over 2.5 years for SE to make any LS on the biggest XI server at the time able to farm sky over RMT being blocked by Ulikumi. It forced many of my friends etc. to quit the game. 2.5 years later they added a ??? and a drop item and sky was farmable again. I think feedback should be listened to by SE especially over something as simple as this, they have tended to vastly overestimate people's patience with relatively easy to fix things.

For me and many other people this IS my most sought after item in game, and it will make the game more enjoyable for me. It's basicaly the equivalent to one random day in the summer having the most amazing suit of armor that has angel wings and the most awesome sword you have ever seen and it comes with it's own 3 new classes that only people that randomly signed on that day can ever have. That is how important it can be, would implementing the prior be a great decision? Prob not.

Selfishness..really? It's called being realistic. How is it selfish that people chose to play the game while it was free to play, mind you and obtained an event item during that period whereas a lot more people chose not to play the game even though it was F2P and now want it? I can understand the people who missed it for legitimate reasons, but honestly? That's only the miniority when a helluva lot more simply chose not to get on XIV and get it. It hurts no one to have it be offered but we were told last year when people asked if it will be available next year (as in 2012) that it would not be offered this year but instead they will offer kimono/yukata (they went with yukata).

It's not I telling you otherwise, it's the development team because while a bikini can make or break your enjoyment..actual gameplay elements matter more to a lot more people and they know this, which is why they're perfectly fine with shuffling event items around, they don't make or break the overall gameplay of FFXIV, so while it's important to you...it's just an event item that has no significance in the grand scheme of things. It's not like it's Darklight armor that will only be available once a year, THEN we'd have a problem, because Darklight armor is a very sought after armor set and if SE only allowed the armor to exist for 1 year at a time, that's a lot more cause for concern than a bikini because it is integral to gameplay.

Then tell me, did you join before or after the event? If you joined after you simply just have to wait till it's offered next year or see if they stick to their word and release recipes of a different swimsuit like they hinted at. If you joined before, what's your excuse for not logging in last summer and getting one? The event was easy that you could even do at low levels. If you kept up with the game at all you would have known it wouldn't be handed out this year.

So let's be real here, what's more selfish? Telling SE to hotfix in a bikini or knowing that they simply didn't want to offer it this year? When I join an MMO and I missed an event you know what happens? I have to wait until they offer the item again or do the said event again, but you know what happens? They almost never offer the same item twice or ever again, like in Maplestory my brother's gf missed the chance at getting a certain hat because she started playing it after the "new release" of the new class, she won't have the ability to get it probably ever again.

So while I can understand the frustration, really think about it, it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things..I can promise you for every person that feels this is the most important thing to them, there's 100+ others who feel gameplay is more important. Neither side is wrong, but demanding SE offer this is a sense of entitlement.

So if you missed it because you joined the game after the fact, you just simply have to wait till they reoffer it next year it's as simple as that, I'd understand even more if SE blindsided us with the news it won't be offered but they didn't. This is why it is not I that's being selfish.

It's selfish because in every mmo I've ever played I've watched companies give the same seasonal items out every year that i already earned because I signed on at a specific time and I never had to go on forums to tell people how they wern't entitled to it.

I played in beta, I rerolled on a new server since last summer after they turned the game into a power level fest because my old one was dead and I am happy with my new character. I've waited one year but I won't wait 2.

I can't even say if FFXIV will still be around next year judging by the 6 screen shots they have up of the future of an already 2 year old MMO yet here I am paying them to make decisions like this, you do realize this promise that they wont offer swimsuits that they made was before the 2.0 PDFs were even up? That perhaps every little promise they made at the horrible mess this was before they realized 2.0 could be altered for the better? I think SE should have been spending their time better last summer then promising people they won't be able to get vanity gear for seasonal events.

Yeah for real >_< no one is over reacting as badly as he/she exaggerated it, people are just sad that they were looking forward to obtaining them since they missed last years event for legitimate reasons. Not everyone can afford a 1k+ PC and people have lives they must attend to. If people have a problem that some folks are upset about missing it and not being able to obtain it after waiting a year...no one is forcing them to read this thread.

I also noticed on the JP side...Yoshida said he will look into making the longer Yukata...but nothing about this side wanting the bikinis? Oki SE....I see how it is lol. ._. It would be easier to code a NPC that sells them, then reskin multiple items and remake them. Someone in another thread mentioned how much work it takes to create new gear in XIV, if that is true then yeah...clearly that is more work. So...WTG SE!

actually babydoll aside from you and a couple of others who had good reason to miss the suits most of the others are complaining because they weren't playing the game when it came out or decided not to do that event and that's when this whole damn thing started getting out of control. I don't care if some people thought my last post was "pretentious" nor do I care if people think this one is.

For all you Eorzeans who are looking forward to having fun in the sun, our summer event is scheduled to kick off during the beginning of August, where everyone will be able to obtain stylish yukatas!

Unfortunately we will not be distributing the swimwear from last year’s summer event, but if you missed out on the previous event, our threads this year are second to none!

We had really wanted to provide the wallpapers that were so popular last year as well, but the development team is crunching really hard on version 2.0 preparations and had to put it off. Next year we are planning to do what we did for our previous event, so please look forward to this upcoming one as well as the future!

where it says that there will never be a damn bathing suit again. Also again I say as soon as this event is over make another post this time being a nice one, not one where everyone jumps each others damn throats about shit but to say, "Hey, we loved the Yukata's but for the next summer festival can we have the option now to be able to get previous Items. We'd really love that and it would be awesome if you did or made the bathing suits even better." And yes people were right all the suits did was give some stupid ascetic look to it as different underwear but even then their stats were crap. like +2 to water def I think. Patience is a key and if you think two years is too long of a wait well for those who had the chance to get it and didn't. I'm sorry for your bad luck... For those who didn't have the ability to get it ie rl issues or not being at home pc blowing up stuff like that.... I am truly sorry that happened but thankful that you put real life over a game as it should be. Remember this is only pixels on a screen nothing anything special. It's just a game.

(And again I'm not trying to be pretentious about anything or trying to stir up negativity. I'm just saying as a person who's been reading all of this and trying to say hey chill out and wait a bit more and then start asking se for it next year. but *shrugs* I'm now to the point where I want this thread to close because of all this. And I'm too the point where I even want to say to se to forget about this years summer fest but that isn't my style.)
