I honestly agree? I get the reason why people complained about the eyes in the benchmark 1. Not having any shine isn't good, but adding in a static fake shine (or rather, adding it back) is regressing, and it's gonna be really janky combined with what are otherwise a bunch of real and dynamic lights. Not sure what the perfect solution would have been, but I don't think adding in a cartoony eye dot was it.

There was eye shine, but the way the reflections worked was likely too realistic which folks had an issue with- now it's been dulled completely. I also wish the thicker eyelashes had been optional, instead of removing it- seeing so much of the under eyelid is gross imo
