Isn't face 7 meant to be modelled after the Warrior of Light posterboy?
If so SE might want that face to look more aged/endured because of all what the WoL have been through, through out all of the trailers etc.
Looking at a comparison between the 2 faces that share the same sculpt, the one that's not the WoL (original) doesn't show the same age to it.
So I just think they want the posterboy face to look more aged intentionally.
I mean, why else would they put in that extra work to one and not the other if not?[…]

I have mentioned similar sentiment before. It does seemed like the design choice they’ve chosen to stick with. The thing is, while having two differing sculpt to pick is better than just one, this choice would’ve been a great addition if I can still recreate the same model on face 5 plus facial hair option to use face 7’s stubble, which we apparently do not get.

So if you happen to like EW M Middie Face 7, welp, you’re screwed. You will get those profound nasolabial folds & aging line and you will like it.

Mm.. I remember how long people was asking for the WoL facial hair option, but SE couldn't add it as a facial option, so they simply had to add it as it's own face.
And I guess that since it appears to be a 1:1 of the WoL posterboy face, any changes to his face will be present on the face 7 as well.
So if SE wants him to be more rugged/aged then face 7 follows suit.

It would be nice if all faces, regardless of race or gender could have an age toggle.
Some might like a face but doesn't want it to be young looking, or vice versa.
But we all know by now that FFXIV character creator is limited and expect new hairstyles being added, not much else will.
Like, the Hyur head 7 took years before that got added.
