I don't know how many more ways they could have prepared folks that your character will not be 1:1 and that they wouldn't be implementing every change/complaint folks had. They eventually have to settle and say, this is it. And I believe what we are getting character-wise now (minus actual glitches in the characters) is it.

We know that but you also have to accept the fact that not everyone likes the new update and will voice feedback (as we did in the past) or simply share their discontent. Such is the way of having access to the forums.I don't know how many more ways they could have prepared folks that your character will not be 1:1 and that they wouldn't be implementing every change/complaint folks had. Do I know the new Au Ra faces are it? Yes. Do I dislike them? Yes. And unfortunately for the rest of the world I am allowed to say it in this thread. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For some #hopium it looks like they actually did fix the mouth for masculine Miqo'te face type 4. They're not smiling anymore!
This is a crop of one of a friend's character in the 880x1200 update, but since he's butt-arse naked I must preserve his decency. u_u
Another friend who was experiencing the hair color issue I reported also appeared to have that fixed on her updated character, too. I guess I'll feel more confident about that once the update hits my Elezen and her hair doesn't turn more pinkish in hue instead, though.
As a reminder, three weeks to fix the amount of issues they had is an absurdly short amount of time for how much data that needs to be managed in an MMORPG. They probably prioritized certain issues first, for now, even if I'd rather they'd have chosen prioritizing editing the faces more.
If you wouldn't mind sharing (it's totally understandable if you do), could you post your Au Ra's updated lodestone portrait? I'm really curious to compare... I have a gaggle of thirteen goddamn characters and somehow the update hasn't hit a single one yet.
EDIT: Never mind, I found some. Unfortunate that fem Au Ra face 2 still has that entire lip structure change...

The new benchmark is an improvement from the first rendition, but I'm still disappointed by some key changes to M-Viera face 1.
1. The eyelids being weirdly prominent,
2. The nose seems a different shape (taller/pointier) with the intense highlight,
3. Nerfed nose smudge
4. Pointier chin and no cleft
5. Lighter eyebrows

The Patch notes reading session is currently being streamed, and there were some additional comments on the graphical update.
Someone from the Japanese forum thread was very kind to DM me a translation in English:
We have adjusted player character settings even after releasing the updated version of the benchmark software, incorporating adjustments based on the feedback we received to the fullest extent possible.
We have also adjusted things like "this face pattern," "these eyes," and "this indentation."
We have pushed adjustments to the limit for what we can do for now.
If there are still aspects that concern you or that you are curious about, please let us know on the forum or elsewhere. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I am very happy to hear that they are open to feedback, even though there is no guarantee that it can be implemented. It's also good to hear that concerns can still be voiced after launch. When the game goes live I'll try to create some proper feedback images bc I didn't have time before.
I also hope that this whole situation emphasises to the devs how limited the CC is. Perhaps it'll finally make them consider adding more options in the future and I will keep on adding this point to my future feedback. I think the update has shown how direly it is needed to ensure as many people in the playerbase can properly be served.
Sorry I didn't see your post before! I'm glad you found some images in the meantime. Yep, the forced lip job is still there it seems. :/
